海外で育つ、ハーフあるあるです。
兄弟の上から順番に、日本語が一番喋れるのが、一番上の子。２人目、３人目と、下の子になる程、日本語がしゃべれなくなるのが一般的。
Here is one thing that is very common among mixed children who are raised abroad.
Regarding the level of spoken Japanese, generally, the oldest child in the family can speak Japanese well. After that, the level of spoken Japanese generally goes down lower and lower from second oldest kid to third one.
子供達にとったら、英語の方が簡単だから、どんなけ注意しても、兄弟間では英語になるのが普通。気がつくと、親が日本語で話しかけ、子供が英語で答える風になってしまってる。
It's easier for children to talk in English so no matter how many times I tell them to speak in Japanese, between the siblings, they usually talk in English. Before I knew it, I was talking our children in Japanese and they were talking back in English.
うちは子供２人で、下の子があんまり日本語喋れないんやけど、出来るだけ日本語に触れてもらおう思って、週一度、日本語学校に入れてるんやけど、、、。
I have two children and the youngest one can't speak English well but I want my son to be exposed to a Japanese environment as much as possible so once a week, I take my son to Japanese school after public school finishes.
日本語やっぱり難しいなって思ったわ。１から１０までの、あの独特な日本語での数え方。
I was thinking to myself 'Japanese is really difficult'. You know, there is a unique way to count from one to ten in Japanese.
(Sorry, from this point, I can't translate it into English because it depends what you count (strings, boxes or papers and so on) numbers are followed by different unit and there is no translation for it. Basically, I want to say that Japanese is a complicated language in this blog.)

私：『これ幾つ？』
息子：ひとつ
指二本
息子：ふたつ
指３本
息子：さんつ、、、
いやいやいや、、そうじゃなくって
指４本
息子：よっつ
指５本
息子：ごつ
ごつって、、、。
指６本
息子：ろくつ
まだ続くか、、、。
指７本
息子：ななつ
指８本（もう、なんて言うか予測出来る）
息子：はちつ
指９本
息子：きゅーつ
指１０本
息子：じゅっつ
全部、普通の数え方に、
”つ” 付けただけやないか！！
一応、一回全部言えるようになったけど、数ヶ月経つと、また忘れてます。
そこへ、また新しい試練が、、、。
私が指１本あげてる。
私：『これ何本？』
息子：いっぽん
お、言えた。
指２本
息子：にぽん
そう来るよな。
これも、１０本まで教えたけど、ぜーんぶ忘れてもーてるわ。
日本語って、ややこしいなぁ。
