Similarly, I have resisted the neologistic trend in restaurants toward the food-line bowl or wrap. At Moe’s or Chipotle, I end up liking half my meal then get tired of its lack of subtlety. Near my daughter’s school in Cleveland, we discovered Bibibop, a pseudo-Korean version. That suits my taste more than pseudo-Mexican, but after three visits, the thrill is, proverbially, gone.
So what to make of pseudo-poke-bowls at Tai Chi Bubble Tea in Henrietta? Well, the thrill might flee eventually, but two visits in, I’m still looking forward to my third.
Your first visit may well confuse you. The counter as you walk in is where you order (sort of) and pay. Bubble drinks are one part, and we’ll get to that. But for your main meal, all you do is specify how many proteins you’re going to want, one ($8.99), two ($9.99) or three ($11.99). Then you settle up, grab an order form and head on over to the serving line.
