Admittedly, Alesha's no stranger to headlines and hype since her pop days in girlband Mis teeq eight years ago.But since she replaced Arlene Phillips in the judging hot seat on the most sparkly TV show that is Strictly, well, the girl's never known anything like it.'When it was announced I was going to be a judge on the show, I didn't speak about it to anyone,' she says. 'But so much stuff was already out there and so many opinions had been formulated. Then came my first weekend on Strictly That was intense. Usually, I'd laugh it off, but for some reason that morning, after having a stressful week, I cried. I don't usually drink while I'm singing, but I needed a glass of wine or bottle! I was being attacked, and all over a bit of entertainment. But thank God I didn't lose the plot.'She didn't lose her confidence either, despite criticism clogging up the message boards on the Strictly website after week one. 'I kept perspective,' she says calmly. 'I was going home, but home was being invaded by work. I started to feel like a prisoner in my own house. But I had lots of supportive texts from friends and family saying, "You've worked hard to get where you Nike Air Jordan 11 Shoes Black Blue are, it will blow over, it's a pantomime." And you know, it does blow over. Am I thick skinned? Yes, I am. Although it still hurt me, I'm human. But it wasn't like my world was about to end!'And there she goes again with her Mutley cackle. While there are some celebs who would have gone off into hiding after listening to some of the backlash, Alesha just laughs. 'Look, all this stuff is not that deep. There are more important things to say and think about than what I say on a Saturday night. Nobody's died, a crime hasn't been committed, so what's the big deal?'Good point. Even if Alesha did have time to spare, we doubt she'd be beating herself up over it all although signs that it might be getting a bit much are starting to show. We were lucky to snatch 40 minutes to chat with her in London in between her tour dates. Fresh from her Reading gig with a sore neck 'I busted it doing one of the dances and had to have a massage this morning. I was like, "more pressure! more pressure!"' and looking cosy in her knitted cardigan, leggings and Ugg boots, Alesha confesses to being a bit tired and emotional.'I was in tears after my first night,' she says. 'All sorts went wrong. I came off stage and whacked my head on something. I went all dizzy and couldn't find the stairs in the dark. I went back on stage, singing while thinking, "Oh my head". Then I did the next song and busted my neck. After it's all finished, the plan is to jump straight into my car and head to the hotel. From the car to the hotel I was just in tears. I got back to the hotel and I had mascara all down my cheeks. I looked like Dracula.'Then in the middle of this hissy fit, I couldn't get my tights off because there was glue stuck to my foot and I ripped the skin off the bottom of my foot. I'm sat at the bottom of the bed in pain. Crying. Foot bleeding. Head bruised. Neck sore. Then the tears turned into laughter. My tour manager was going, "It's just your adrenalin, babe, it's just your adrenalin." I've waited years for this tour. And then I get it and I'm crying.'And as weird as it sounds, that's why we like her. Yes, she's energetic, yes she's inspiring, but she is a teensy weensy Nike Air Max bit like us when the proverbial s h one t hits the fan. And in all honesty, she's had her fair share. There's been plenty of love rat tales doing the rounds, not that Alesha is going there in this interview.All she does say is her life has been far from smooth running. 'I've always had drama in my life, there's never a day without it,' she says. 'I wake up some mornings and I just want to run away. I get tired and can't think straight. I have to get myself in check and say, "Woman, you are so lucky to be doing what you're doing. Sort it out." You have to give yourself a slap around the head and focus. I try to stay positive.'Alesha recalls drama first occurred in her life when she was as young as four. Around this time her mother Beverly split from her Jamaican father Melvin. 'But you know, all the drama at a young age has probably helped me deal with things better now. I always want to move forwards, never backwards.'Alesha has, in fact, lent her experience to a new TV documentary (on later this month), which sees her looking at the effect absent fathers have on children. For her, her personal story is now a happy one and she's still in touch with her dad, who lives in Thailand. Alesha says, 'Early next year, I want to go away for a bit. I want some time out not necessarily from work, but just from all the hype. Or when I get a bit older and I can't sing any more and I want to let my belly hang out, I could do more of an Oprah thing and have a couchy vibe going on. I have to take things year by year at the moment, as so many things are happening. But if I get the opportunity to go to America with my music, I'm off! Why wouldn't you?'But we can't help but wonder where a man fits into all of this 'I don't have a man! I don't have time. I don't have a day off,' she says throwing up her hands in despair. 'To be honest, I'm also really picky. On tour, I'm surrounded by men and I'm the only girl, but I don't fancy any of them. I end up becoming one of them, with my frizzy hair and no make up. I don't care.'Although that said, it would be nice being on tour with someone you do quite fancy. Getting on with the judges was the one thing I was really nervous about, but they're so cool, Air Jordan Outlet so nice to me. We're kept separately from the dancers. My job is the easier part. For the dancers, the show takes over their whole life, it takes one evening a week out of my life. I don't get nervous, I enjoy the show, comment, and go home.'ALESHA and her sparkle'I love the costumes on my tour. We wrote the song from scratch around Elton John's piano in a studio in LA. When I was 14, I would go into Wembley arena to watch Take That and buy the programmes and albums. So writing with Gary is a bit like someone from my audience in 15 years time writing a song with me. That's how surreal it is. I was a massive Take That fan and now he's one of my mates. I used to fancy Mark when I was 13, because he was the little one. But honestly, I loved them all. I'm always up for experimenting with my music. Sometimes, you get together and don't always hit it off with people, but with Gary it was so easy.'PALOMA Womens Nike Lunar FAITH'I worked with Paloma on a new track called Shake. It's like Boy Does Nothing part two. It's very big band. And Paloma is so hot right now.'CHERYL COLE'Would I duet with Cheryl? What, like Beyonc and Shakira? I mentioned it to her ages ago. Who knows? I'd be up for it. I know we're from different shows and people try to play us off, but we don't get involved in that rubbish.'
