こうして結婚準備がスタートし、コーディネーターのブリジッド・バーケアースがアメリカや日本からの300人程の招待ゲストの旅行手配を担当することとなりました。ジェイクとケリーのイメージははっきりしていました。“この結婚は私たちだけのものではありません。ここに至るまでに助けてくれた家族や友人たちのために式を挙げたい「あなた方がいてこその私たちです」というメッセージの、いわば盛大なThank you partyですね！”と、ジェイク。
ブリジットは多忙な二人に代わり決断をすることがあるため、二人の事を知るのに時間をかけました。“ジェイクとケリーはゲストたちには最高の食事をしてもらい、心地良く過ごし、楽しんでほしい、というのが希望でした。自分達自身のための要望は全くありませんでしたね”と、ブリジット。テーマカラーのネイビー・ブルーが手作りの招待状、フェイバー・ボックス、テーブルカードやブライズメイドのドレスで表され、ケリーがハワイ島出身という事からビッグアイダンドキャンディーズから美味しいチョコレート掛けのショートブレッドクッキーを取り寄せました。受付にはレ・セゾンの洗練されたネイビーのリネン、センターピースには真白なカラーやアジサイが飾られました。同じくアイボリーのリネンがステージや外のラウンジをより柔らかく演出する様にあしらわれました。
And so the wedding plans began, and coordinator Brigid Barcarse stepped in to execute an affair for nearly 300 guests traveling from the United States and Japan. Jake and Kelly were clear in their vision. “This wedding is not about us. It’s about our family and friends who have gotten us to this point, a big thank you party to say, ‘You mean the world to us,’” Jake says. Brigid took the time to get to know them as a couple, handling many key decisions on their behalf due to the demands of their schedules. Brigid remarks, “Jake and Kelly wanted their guests to have great food, be comfortable and truly enjoy themselves. They didn’t have many special requests for themselves at all.” The navy blue color story was expressed in handmade invitations, favor boxes, table cards and bridesmaid dresses. Since Kelly is from the Big Island, guests were treated to delicious chocolate covered shortbread cookies from Big Island Candies. White calla lilies and hydrangea graced the reception centerpieces accented with elegant navy linens ordered from Les Saisons, with ivory linens providing a softer backdrop to the stage and in outdoor lounge areas.
ケリーはデザイナー、マデリン・ガードナーのMorileeのドレスを美しくきこなし、ジェイクも上品なディオールの黒のスーツをまといました。二人にとって入場の際の光景が印象的で、心に焼き付いているそうです。“バージンロードを歩きながら個々の小さなエネルギーの集まりを感じ、皆が私たちと一体となっている気がしました。その奥にジェイクが立って待っている姿は忘れられるはずがありません”とケリーは振り返ります。どれもが貴重な時間となったウェディングですが、ジェイクにとってもこの瞬間は特別なものでした。“今までこれ程までに待ち望んだ瞬間はなかったので、はじめは彼女の顔を見ることが出来ませんでした。カメラのライトやざわめきや気配から角を曲がったのを感じ、ようやく目を合わせた瞬間、まるで全てが一瞬で止まったかの様でした。ぼくの目は涙で溢れていました”
Kelly was stunning in a fitted ballroom gown by Madeline Gardner for Morilee, and Jake wore an elegant dark Dior suit. The moment the two locked
eyes during the processional is forever etched in their hearts. “Walking down the aisle, I could feel the energy of the small group, everyone closest to us. Seeing Jake standing there is an image I’ll never forget,” relays Kelly. Of all the precious moments during the wedding, this one stood out for Jake, too. “I was waiting for her in all this anticipation, and at first I couldn’t see her. There were just camera lights and I could feel the buzz and energy as she turned the corner. When our eyes met, it was like everything stopped. My eyes filled with tears.”
夜にはJWイヒラニ・リゾート＆スパのホテルにて、心温まるボールルーム・レセプションが開かれました。ゲストには新郎新婦の大好物である寿司やアジアン・タコスが振舞われ、もちろん、数々の愉快な音楽も披露されました。ケリーの上司、ドクター・ベントン・チャンはハワイ・ライオンダンス・アソシエイションの主催で踊った中国伝統の獅子舞でゲストをアッと言わせていました。他のウエディングパーティーの例にもれなく、これらの催しで、全員がかしこまった雰囲気から解放されたようでした。また、ジェイクが新婦のために書いた歌を歌った際はそれに合わせ、ケリーがふざけて踊り、笑っている場面がスクリーンに映し出されました。一流のパフォーマーである夫とは正反対に、彼女は家族や友人からは、どちらかというと保守的、本好きで通っていたため、みんな彼女の別の一面が見られたことに大いに喜びました。“本当にケリーは付き合いがいいんだよね、”と、ジェイク。
Heartfelt emotions flowed throughout the evening, with a ballroom reception at the Ihilani JW Marriott Hawaii Resort. Guests were treated to the couple’s favorite food, a delightful spread of sushi and Asian tacos, and, of course, an amazing array of music. Kelly’s boss, Dr. Benton Chun,surprised everyone with a traditional Chinese lion dance blessing performed by Hawaii Lion Dance Association. And like most weddings, the festivities brought out the lighter side of the celebrants. When Jake performed a song he had written for his bride, a film played portraying Kelly in a whole new light-silly, dancing and laughing on screen. Unlike her husband, the consummate performer, she is known by family and friends as rather conservative and bookish. Everyone delighted in seeing a very different side! “Kelly was such a good sport,” says Jake.
パーティーのクライマックスは、ジェイクとケリーによる結婚したカップルとして初めて踊る優雅なファースト・ダンスです。彼らはプロの振付師マリアン・モリソンについて数週間も練習を積み、この練習に費やした膨大な時間により、二人の親密度は更に深まり愛を育んだそうです。ジェイクはかわいらしくも情熱的に、また愛嬌たっぷりに言います、“僕たちの結婚式は想像した以上に素晴らしいものとなったよ”
The festivities culminated with one final and grand performance when Jake and Kelly took the floor for a graceful ballroom dance, their first as a married couple. The two had been practicing with professional choreographer Marian Morrison for many weeks, and their sessions allowed them an incredible time to bond and fall more deeply in love. In his endearing enthusiasm and boyish charm, Jake says, “Our wedding was everything we could have ever dreamed of!”
パーティーが開けた後、新婚の二人はこの夜の一瞬一瞬をかみしめる様に自分たちのスイートへと手に手を取りあって戻って行きました。人生において最高の贈り物は、心の琴線でしっかり結ばれてやってくるのだ（深い感動と共にやってくる）、と、ふたりの愛は物語っています。
After the party, the newlyweds walked back to their suite hand-in-hand,relishing every moment of the night. Their love proves that the best giftsin life come firmly attached with heart strings.
