Political crisis in Italy.....again.
An unstable coalition of the populist left and the populist right...
No government after three months from election...
Denial of the finance minister by the president...
And a possible re-election at Autumn...
But it’s something that kept happening over and over again. A paper from the Economist has explained why it’s so hard to form a government in Italy....5 years ago. By then, they’ve already had 61 governments in 67 years after the Second World War.
The current situation can partly be explained by design.
- Because Italy was a divided country and the people wanted to keep variations; and
- Because they wanted to avoid Mussolini to gain power again
They developed a constitutional system with a weak executive....which ended up too successfully. Now it’s never stabilized.
