今日は八月最後の日である。 例年夏の最後の日は、夏に別れを告げるために浜辺にいって海を眺めるのを恒例にしているが、今日は台風一過で、カンカン照りである。無風で外気温は34℃である。年齢も考慮して海を見に行くことはまた好条件の日まで順延にした。ふりかえってみると、今年の夏は一度も海に行っていない。 ぼくの夏は海なしには考えられないのであるが、猛暑続きの日々も結構生き生きと過ごすことができた。いちども落ち込むことはなかったと思う。 ちょっと不思議である。 ひょっとして、食べることが幸せの原動力という持論にのっとり、かき氷をすきなだけたべることを実践したことがよかったのかもしれないと思っている。Today is the last day of August. Every year on the last day of summer, I usually go to the beach to say goodbye to summer and look at the sea. After the typhoon, it is sunny, 34 degrees Celsius and no wind. Considering my age, I decided to postpone my visit to the beach until a more favorable day. Looking back, I did not go to the beach once this summer. Although I cannot imagine my summer without the sea, I was able to spend the days of intense heat quite happily. Why was I so happy? Perhaps my belief that food was the driving force of happiness helped me. Yes, I enjoyed eating as much shaved ice as I could during the scorching summer.
