昨日の東京都知事選で、次点ととなった石丸伸二氏の記者会見の際の一場面がネット上にアップされている。 その写真は次の通りであるが、なにかお気づきになるだろうか？ A scene from yesterday's press conference held by Shinji Ishimaru, the runner-up in the Tokyo gubernatorial election, has been uploaded to the Internet. The following is a picture of it, but do you notice anything?
私がはっとしたのは石丸氏の質問者を指さす時のジェスチャーである。 米国のトランプ氏や政治評論家の田原総一朗氏の他者を射すくめるような威圧感がまったくない。 石丸氏については、これから多くの論評がでることであろうが、この独特の指さしジェスチャーが彼の爽やかな性格の一端を語っているのは間違いないだろう。 話は少し飛ぶが、将来、彼が何かの選挙戦に勝つことがあったとき、彼が万歳をするかどうか注目したい。 いわずもがなであるが、選挙で当選したときに万歳三唱をするのは醜悪極まりない。 わき腹を晒しだし無防備であることこの上なし、これみよがしの態度、破廉恥であることこの上なしである。What struck me was Ishimaru's gesture when he pointed at a questioner. He has none of the intimidating air of Trump, the former U.S. president, or Soichiro Tahara, a political commentator, when they point at a questioner among the media reporters.
Much will be said about Mr. Ishimaru from now on, but it is no exaggeration to say that this unique pointing gesture is a testament to his modest personality. To change the subject a bit, it will be interesting to see if he yells "banzai" when he wins a campaign in the future. Needless to say, it is extremely ugly to shout "banzai" when they win an election. It is the most defenseless of all, exposing the armpits and flanks, this showy gesture is nothing short of shameful.
