小田原文学館を訪ねた。 本館では、小田原出身およびゆかりの文学者、北村透谷、三好達治、谷崎潤一郎、佐藤春夫、坂口安吾などのさまざまな資料が公開されていた。 別館では、1918年から1926年にかけて小田原で暮らし、その間「赤い鳥小鳥」「からたちの花」をはじめ多くの名作童謡を作詞した北原白秋のさまざまな資料に触れることが出来た。 二階の畳の部屋にある古びたビデオによる案内を、寝そべって30分間ほど鑑賞した。 開いた障子を通して入る五月の薫風を浴びながらのひと時は経験したことのない時間だった。We visited the Odawara Literature Museum. The museum displayed a variety of materials related to the literature of Odawara-born and/or related writers such as Kitamura Tokoku, Miyoshi Tatsuji, Tanizaki Junichiro, Sato Haruo, Sakaguchi Ango, and others. In the annex, visitors could see various materials about Kitahara Hakushu, who lived in Odawara from 1918 to 1926 and wrote many famous nursery rhymes, including “Akai Tori Kotori” and “Karatachi no Hana” during that period. I lay down and watched an old video introduction for about 30 minutes in the tatami room upstairs. It was an unprecedented time, with the May breeze coming in through the open shoji screens.

On June 4, 1989, Chinese troops cleared student protesters in Tiananmen Square. Unofficial figures put the death toll at nearly 1,000. 1989年6月4日、政府軍は天安門広場で学生デモ隊を排除した。非公式の数字によれば、死者は1,000人近くに上った。

旅のつれづれに思うことをいろいろ記してきましたが、少々脚がへたっても自分の足で歩くことを大切にしている。 すると想定外の人々、場所、音、匂い、風に出会える。「ゆっくりと歩き小さき花に会う」（毎日新聞4/4/2024川柳）と詠まれていた。
次の絵は孫娘(横浜市・9才)が滞在しているホテルに訪ねて来て、13階の窓から小田原城をスケッチしてくれたものである。スケッチが旅での多くの出会いを思い出させてくれる。
