私たちの公民館講座に参加くださる三池孝尚住職が、50代の半ば頃にインドを訪れ、マザー・テレサ(1910-1997)にお会いされたとのお話をふと漏らされた。 お話によると、「やわらかい優しさあふれるおばあさん」って感じで周囲を圧倒するようなオーラはまったくなかったそうです。しかし、ご自身のその後の人生に計り知れない影響をうけられたそうです。 その時、撮られた写真が一葉あるとのことで、小生宛てに電送していただきました。 それが、次の写真です。
この機会に、マザー・テレサについて基本情報をウキペディア等で学ぶことにしましょう。
Mother Teresa, also known as Saint Teresa of Calcutta, was an Albanian-Indian Catholic nun and the founder of the Missionaries of Charity. 和尚さんのお話を聞いて、思ったのは本物のオーラというものは周囲の人を威圧するのではなくただ淡々と静かにあるだけではないかと思ったりしています。
