日本には野球シーズンが始まる春先の頃を指す「球春」という用語があります。「春」と「球」の組み合わせって、とてもユニークですね！ 今日は、野球にちなんだ話や表現を紹介しましょう：
少年の頃、僕らは三角ベースと言う野球を工夫し日暮れまで遊んだものだ。柔らかいゴムボールを下手で投げ、そのボールを木や竹の棒のバットで打ち、素手のグラブでキャッチし、人数が揃わないためにダイヤモンドならぬ三角のフィールドを駆け回った。今は昔、遠い記憶の中に消えかかっている想い出である。
When we were growing up, boys would play baseball. There was a nice playground and we played there until it got dark. We threw a soft rubber-ball underhanded, hit it with a wooden or bamboo stick, caught it with bare hands, and ran around on a triangle field, not on the diamond one, because there weren’t enough players. This is a memory that is slowly fading away into a thin corner of the past.
