昨日、徳山動物園へ行きました。 妻くんと一緒に行きました。 案内によれば、この動物園は、1960年3月20日に徳山市立動物園として開園したそうです。ちょっと肌寒かったけど、陽射しがありました。 前回訪れたのは、こどもたちがまだ小さかった頃、お絵かきの大会があった時でした。 だから随分久しぶりの再訪でした。 小生は歩きに苦労するため、約3/4の行程をたのしみました。最初に会ったのはスリランカ象の親子でした。巧みな鼻の使い方に感心しました。 つぶらな瞳と優しい動きの巨体は来園の子供たちの喝采を浴びていました。 大抵の動物たちは、ちょっと退屈そうでしたが、カワウソたちは、終始追っかけこしてとってもたのしそうに遊んでいました。 熱帯生き物館では、熱帯の湿気を体感し、アマゾン地域の動植物に出会えました。 とぐろを巻いたニシキヘビやカメレオンなどもいました。動物たちとふれあえてとてもいい時間が過ごせました。 動物たちに「ありがとう、たのしく生きてね！」といって日が傾き始めた園を後にした。
Yesterday my wife and I visited Tokuyama Zoo. According to the information, this zoo was opened on March 20, 1960 as Tokuyama Municipal Zoo. It was a little chilly, but there was sunshine. The last time we visited was when my children were small and there was a drawing contest. So it had been a long time since our last visit. Since I have trouble walking, I only enjoyed 3/4 of the trip. The first animals we encountered were Sri Lankan elephants, a parent and child. We were impressed by the skillful use of their noses to eat. The massive bodies with small round eyes and gentle movements were cheered by the children who came to the zoo. Most of the animals looked a little bored, but the otters seemed to have a lot of fun chasing each other without stopping. In the Tropical Creature House, we experienced the tropical humidity and encountered the flora and fauna of the Amazon region. As expected there was a coiled python and a chameleon. We had a great time interacting with the animals. We said to the animals, "Thank you, live happily! and left the park as the sun began to set.
改めて、動物たちの世界に目を開くよい機会になりました。 動物園に限らず、水族館、植物園、サファリパーク、あるいは近くの野原、川岸などへ生きものたちとの出会いを楽しみに出かけられては如何ですか？
列島各地で、日中は五月並みの暑さになったところがあったようですね。 この調子では桜は三月で終わってしまいそうです。七十年ほど昔、ぼくが小学校に入学したころ、国語の読本には「サイタ、サイタ、サクラノハナガ・・・」とありました。 校庭には桜が満開でした。
