（『日本人の暦』）
読書をしていたり、テレビやラジオで人々の言葉に接していると、はっとさせられることがあります。 先日、『日本人の暦』 長谷川櫂著 を読んでいたとき、「人間にとっていいものは、時の流れとともに生まれ、消えてゆくものである。反対に、いつもあるもの、永遠の存在は待たれることも、惜しまれることも、懐かしまれることもありません。」に出会いました。 名言集をひも解けば、たしかに多くの意味ある言葉に出会うことができますが、普段の言語生活の中で、淡々と語られることばにも見逃せないものがあります。むしろ、名言を意識することなく、語られる方が具体性も豊かで、差し出がましさもなくて心に沁みる場合もあると思います。 上記の例は至近の一例です。 小生はそんな言葉も採集するように心がけています。 何故かと言うと、その印象が書き付けることのよってしっかり納まり、また拡がりったりするからです。
The other day, when I was reading "The Japanese Calendar" by Hasegawa Kai. haiku poet, I came across and was impressed by the passage that says "What is good for human beings is something that is born and disappears with the passage of time. On the contrary, what is always present, what is eternal, is neither waited for, nor regretted, nor missed."
While many meaningful words can be found in a collection of quotations, there are also words that are casually spoken in everyday language that should not be overlooked. Rather, I think there are times when it is more concrete, more poignant, and less intrusive if it is said without a sense of quotable quotes. The example above is the recent one I jotted down.
I try to collect words like this, because the impressions can be firmly fixed and often expanded by writing them down.
例えば、カープ vs. ドラゴンズのような表記をよく見かける。 vs. はversus （対）の省略形を表すのだから、正用法である。 だから、英語圏の諸国・地域でも同様である。 全くの私見であるが、カープ vs. ドラゴンズ あるいは、 Dodgers vs. Yankeesよりも、カープ vs ドラゴンズ あるいは、
Dodgers vs Yankeesの方が美しく見えるし、誤解も起こりようがない。 正用法も臨機応変で(flexible)ありたいと思う。
今日も晴れたり、曇ったり、霧雨が降ったりと極めて不安定な天気でした。でも、陽射しがある時は、春の兆しを感じました。The weather was very unstable again today, sunny, cloudy and drizzling. But when the sun came out, I felt a sign of spring in the air.
