今週は列島に大寒波がやって来る。 そこで、数人の友にショートメールを打った、「わ～猛烈寒波襲来！いっそ、たのしんじゃえ！ HM」。 返信が直ぐに来た。 そのうちの一つに曰く、「坂道でスキーをしよう！空き地で大きな雪だるまをつくろう！」 もう一つは「いいね、いいね！ 風景が変わるね。」 そして、俳句が添えてあった： 「水道に厚着をさせる大寒波」
This week, a big cold wave/front is coming to the archipelago. So I sent a short message to a few friends, "Wow! Let's enjoy it! HM". The replies came immediately. One of them said, "Let's ski on the slope! Let's build a big snowman in a vacant lot! Another said, "Great, great! It changes the landscape." And this was accompanied by a haiku: "A big cold wave /that makes the water pipes/ thickly clad."

北海道・十勝の原野を開墾しながら絵筆をとった農民画家・坂本直行(1906-1982)の世界がNHKの「日曜美術館」で放映された。その中で、私の心を惹きつけたいくつかの彼が書き残した言葉がある。それらをここに記録しておく。 一つ目は彼がまだ若い頃のことばである。「野草の姿の美しさは僕の心をとらえた。スケッチの対象物は身の回りにいつも溢れていた」、次は晩年の頃綴った言葉である。「農村にはまだまだ野生の草木のうつくしさがある。それらについて少しでも多くの知識をもつことによって心が豊かになる」
The world of Naoyuki Sakamoto (1906-1982), a farmer painter who picked up his paintbrush while cultivating the wilderness of Tokachi in Hokkaido, was shown on NHK's "Sunday Museum of Art". In the program, there were a few words that fascinated me. I will record them here.
The first quote comes from when he was still young: The beauty of wild trees and plants captured my heart. The objects for sketching were always around me."
The second was written in his later years: "There are still wild plants and trees in rural areas. The more I learned about them, the richer my heart became.
気の向くままに綴ってみました。坂本直行さんの言葉の中で、「学びが心を豊かにする」と言うのは、筆者がいつも感じていることで、学びの集いである地域の公民館講座で友人たちと口癖のように交わしていることばでもあります。ご感想などお聞かせくださると幸いです。ひ～くん
