こんにちは。
今回の、Staying Sharpという題名、イマイチしっくりこなかったんですが、最後の台詞を聴いてそういうことかな、とちょっと思いました。

Staying Sharp(3)
C: The good news is that these are usually just signs of mild forgetfulness - not serious memory problems.
G: I think multi-tasking is big part of the problem for the forgetfulness. It divides your attention, so when you try to do several things at once you concentrate less on each individual task. And what makes matters worth is that you waste your limited attention and processing power when you switch back and forth between one task and another.
L:I should point out that stress and anxiety make it harder to concentrate and retain information. They can reduce our attention span and hinder the formation of new memories, or the retrieval of old ones.
U:I guess the same is true of high blood pressure or too much alcohol. Drinking to excess can interfere with short term memory. Even after the alcohol's affects have worn off.
P:You know, it can be hard to tell the difference between symptom of dementia and a memory loss forgetfulness that naturally come with passage of time.
U:Is there anything we can do to prevent the onset of dementia?
C:I guess the best advice is to follow the basic rule for living a long healthy life, like keeping to appropriate weight.
