Activated bleaching earth is often used for bleaching oils. Bleaching earth can be activated with sulfuric acid, which improves the internal surface and structure. Due to its excellent absorption properties, but inferior filtration properties, bleaching earth is often used along with perlite or diatomaceous earth.
