Finding a Hobby

Lately, I've been building Gundam models. I used to do car models a long time ago, so I figured I'd give this hobby a try. Several years ago, I used to sew costumes for me and a friend to wear to conventions, and lately I've been feeling unsettled because I have nothing to produce right now.

Over Silver Week I bought models and paint and gave it a go. The first model I tried to build was an MS-14S Gelgoog (Char Custom). This is what it looked like when I built it the first time:

Then, I took it apart and painted it. The paint instructions in the manual lied to me, though. I put in the exact ratio of paint and the colors didn't come out right. I was upset.

But, the colors looked kind of cute on the model, so I decided not to repaint it. Instead of a Char Custom, I had.....

I was going to work on a model this weekend, too, but I'm not feeling so well, and there's a new painting technique I want to try on my next model. I have to go buy some supplies before I can start working on it.

Sing it!

Do you ever just want to sing when you're listening to your iPod?

Sometimes, I really, really want to sing, but the place is inappropriate. Also, my voice is loud, so I don't really sing out at home, either.

It takes some of the joy out of the music, doesn't it?

So tired

Doesn't this building look haunted? I think it used to be a school, but now it's just a skeleton of a building. So creepy.


Today was a good day. I didn't have to go to work until 10:20, and I finish work at 4pm. Still, I used a lot of energy at work and now all I want to do is go to sleep. It's still too early to sleep, though.

Lately, I have been watching The Guild in my spare time. It's a good web drama about gamers. If you like online games like World of Warcraft, you might like this show. I want to buy the DVDs some day.

I think I'll rewatch the show now, then head to bed early.

I picked this up at 7-11the other day and decided to try it.

I liked it so much, I bought another one today. I'm saving it for tomorrow, though.

Workin'

You can always tell how busy I am by how cluttered my desk is. Right now, things are very messy.

Very, very messy.

This week I went back to work, and I'm really tired. I was too tired to go to the grocery store today, so I just had pancakes for dinner. I might make a salad because I'm still really hungry.

I found a Sniper Custom model (RGM-79SC) at the 7-11 yesterday. It made me happy.

I had a headache today, but I don't know why. I took some Advil, but the headache is still here. Maybe I'll head to bed early.

Requiem for Summer

I've had 福山雅治's "phantom" stuck in my head all day. It's a wonderful song, isn't it?

Today I finally cut down my bean plant. It died while I was away in Tokyo because it wasn't watered and the weather was too hot. I was sad because I was really proud to have grown somethng from a seed. My brocolli plant is still alive, though.

The summer vacation passed very quickly for me. Between driving tests, immigration paperwork, and a small vacation, my summer was quickly consumed. Tomorrow, work starts again. I look forward to work in some respects, and don't look forward to it in others.

No use crying over it, though. You have to work so you can do things you enjoy...like shopping.

Goodbye, my lovely summer vacation! I'll miss you!

テニミュ: The Final Match 立海 First feat. 四天宝寺

Yesterday I went to see ミュージカル『テニスの王子様』The Final Match 立海 First feat. 四天宝寺. I watched the 2pm performance.

It...wasn't as good as previous musicals. I was really disappointed.

The cast was okay, but the material, itself, was really bad. The songs weren't very original and the musical arrangement was horrible. I wanted to hear somethinig different this musical, but most of the songs were just revisions of songs from the previous musicals. There were too many medleys, and the songs they chose for the medleys didn't match the tempo they chose.

Still, the kids acting were trying, and I can't really blame them. I blame the director and the composers.

I've been to see テニミュ many times in the last two or three years. I've been keeping up with the performances since the second generation cast. The musicals have really changed since the beginning, haven't they? The show - by this I mean the music and choreography - were much more honest in the beginning. Now there is no effort and a great deal of conceit in the production. I don't like it.

At the end of the day, though, I was a little upset that I rode a bus for an hour and half to watch a lackluster rehash of song I'd heard sung better. Even though I've been to so many テニミュ performances, I may skip the next one. I'm not sure if it'll be worth my time.

At the end of the day...

Vacation is almost over. 。・ﾟﾟ･(≧д≦)･ﾟﾟ･｡

I want to continue relaxing and getting paid. Sometimes, being a teacher is really, really nice.

Everyone in our group has now passed the driving exam, and we went to Joyfull to celebrate. (Joyfull isn't fancy, but it's the only place in town to eat after 7pm.)

While out today I bought some yarn to start on a scarf for winter. I haven't crocheted in a while and I'm looking forward to it.

I want Fall to be here. I'm tired of Summer. It's too hot, and I don't like to sweat.

Tomorrow, I'm going into the city to see Tenimyu. I don't expect much from it, but I hope it will at least be entertaining.

Today I finally passed my driving test! Woohoo!

The photo is of the large statue in front of the Hiroshima Menkyo Center. I think it's pretty ugly. It's very aggressive but desolate at the same time.

To celebrate, I pampered myself with products from LUSH and The Body Shop.

Final Days

School starts again on Tuesday. I don´t want to go.

I want to stay home and build models.
