Finally, after a very long two weeks, I've returned home to Colorado.

When I was going through DIA, there was a man who looked at the 嵐 stickers on the back of my phone and gave me a weird look. Then he started talking to his friend in the vein of "don't you think it's weird that she would have 嵐 stickers on her phone?" I wanted to wave at him and say, "Hi! I understand you!" but I didn't.

In the end, I'm not a very outgoing person, I guess.

But it's good to be home with my cat and, most importantly, my own bed.

Tomorrow I'll pick up my held mail at the post office, buy groceries, and catch up on Kamen Rider and Gekiranger, since I haven't watched in...forever. Then it's back to work on Friday.

Happy New Year!!!!
I've been really, really tired lately.

Even though it's cold outside, it feels...stagnant inside, so I can't sleep very well. I try puttin on a fan or opening a window, but then it gets too cold. I turned my heater for the apartment down, too.

Maybe I'm dehydrated......

12-13 sunsnow

Right now, it's 34 degrees fahrenheit out. That's 1 degree Celcius.

Too cold! Way too cold!!
雪の結晶DASH!

12-13 pnk mnt

It snowed yesterday, but just enough to make sure that all the ground stayed white. Today, the melting starts.

Colorado does this, an odd mixture of melt and snow that stretched through the winter months. It's nice because we have the beauty of the snow but don't have to worry too much about navigating around it all winter. After a few days, the snow melts and everything is back to winter brown.

Now that the semester is over, I'm at a loss. I'm not quite sure what to do with myself. I figure, since it's Saturday, I'll make some lunch, clean house a bit, and maybe start studying my Japanese. I haven't been able to keep up during the semester, so it's all flooding out of my brain at an alarming rate.

Also, I think I'll watch TV, since I really don't indulge in that pastime too much. It'll be a good chance to snuggle on the couch with the cat and relax.

Righ! On with the day!
Today is just not a good day so far.

It's only 8:45AM here in Colorado, but the day has already gone very wrong, for a number of reasons. I'd really like to just go home and start over again but *shrug* I guess I'll just have to see if I can make the best of it.
Our high for the next ten days is going to be 8 degrees Celcius. Our low will be -2.

雪の結晶FREEZING!!! DASH!

12-10 work view

After a weekend of snow, this is the view from the window next to my desk at work. If I move to a place where it doesn't snow, I'm really going to miss view like this. There's something about the smooth, white snow sparkling in the sunrise that really makes me happy.

In other news, ChitoseFish died today. Like KenyaFish, she was too big to swim properly. There will be no babies, though I guess that's a good thing, since the tank really can't support any more.

Now I need to write my last essay of the semester, a fun romp through the new feminine in 19th century women's writing.

mage mug It's such a weird thing, to look at this mug and remember that, once upon a time, it was a little less beaten up.

This is a mug from the game Mage: The Ascension.

We used to play every weekend. I haven't played the game in about....four years or so now, maybe five.

Amazing the things that were important to us that aren't anymore.

I think I'm going through that kind of transition again - refocusing and relearning how to make myself happy.

Throw things out, see what's worth keeping and what's standing in the way of moving forward.

Tomorrow I have six essays to write. Six! I'll get it all done this weekend, though, and then I'll be free for a few weeks. I'm looking forward to the refresher.

Now I need to go to bed, before I collapse.

sw penguin mug

Another faithful friend, this is a mug I got at Sea World in San Diego, CA while visiting my parents. This is actually the second mug I purchased. The first one, purchased about a year previous to this one, fell and broke, so I had to replace it.

One day I'll go to Antartica and see emperor penguins...just as soon as I'm rich.

Wishful thinking, I know, but the world could surprise me.

I don't have any Christmas shopping done and time is running out. I fly home on the 22nd to see my family and I need ot have everything purchased by then. I'm broke at the moment, though, so I can't buy things until Thursday of next week. Hopefully that will still give things time to get here.

I'm thinking of just shipping family gifts to my family's house in Cali and wrapping them when I get there to preserve luggage space.

I don't feel much Christmas spirit this year. I've been so busy with school and work that the month is passing by. No merry carols or the usual fits of buying things for people - my two trips to Japan this year swung me into "Conservative Spender" mode for the most part - just a hasty movement to Get Things Done.

I actually look forward to visiting my family, though, since I won't have to do anything for the week and a bit that I'm there. Who knows, maybe I'll get some writing done...finally.

kyoto mug
I bought this one in March in Kyoto. It took me a long time to find the right cup but finally, after searching everywhere, I found it. This one will definitely come with me when I move.

Today I wasn't in a very good mood, but I think the day ended okay.

Only one more day of classes and my exams and I'll be done for the semester. I'll have to work hard this weekend, though.

So much to do, so much to do....
