The fictional spy James Bond has been widely associated with the popularity of the vodka martini. In Ian Fleming's original book, Casino Royale (1953),

Bond orders a dry martini in a deep champagne glass, asking for it to be made with three measures of Gordon's gin, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet, a sweet French apertif.

"Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon-peel."

He calls this drink a "Vesper", after Vesper Lynd, the original Bond Girl.

Cosmopolitan

Cosmopoliatn

[使用グラス]カクテルグラス
[技法]SHAKE
[使用材料]

1 oz vodka
1/2 oz triple sec
1/2 oz Rose's® lime juice
1/2 oz cranberry juice

According to the International Bartenders Association the original recipe is based on vodka citron, lemon-flavored vodkaThe cosmopolitan is a relative of cranberry coolers like the Cape Codder Though often presented far differently, the cosmopolitan also bears a likeness in composition to the kamikazecocktail.

This origins of the cosmopolitan are somewhat disputed.

It is likely that the drink was created independently by different bartenders since the 1970s

It is generally recognized that John Caine brought the drink to San Francisco around 1987 from the Midwest

The same year in Manhattan, the internationally recognized version of the cocktail was created by Toby Cecchini based on a poorly described version of Cheryl Cook's creation.
