"When a name is spoken, it is never forgotten" — Pennsylvania holds 2nd Annual "Faces of Tragedy" Memorial Event
On August 15, hundreds gathered at Bubeck Park in Port Carbon, Pennsylvania, for the 2nd Annual "Faces of Tragedy: Their Voices Live On" Memorial and Awareness Gathering. Organizer Aimee Teel described it as more than just an event—it was a space where "names are spoken, and never forgotten."
This year, for the first time, the event expanded its remembrance to include lives lost to mental health issues as well. The site featured memorial displays bearing the faces and names of the deceased. Parents and loved ones shared stories of their heartbreaking losses; individuals in recovery spoke of their struggles and hopes. The most moving moment was the "Name Reading Ceremony"—each name, spoken aloud, represented a life being seen and honored with dignity. Community resource booths were also on-site, offering support and assistance information.
The event's core message struck straight at the heart: Whether you are grieving, offering support, in recovery, or still struggling—you are not alone.
