影片是一部儿童科教美术片，也是中国第一部水墨动画片，当时上海美术电影制片厂为创造出这部作品，用大量精力在技术加以探索，虽然国画技法的特殊性在实现连贯的动态效果方面存在很大困难，但最终影片还是获得了前所未有的成功，影片所营造的单纯、质朴、简洁的童话世界，深得儿童观众的喜好。该片1961年获瑞士第十四届洛迦诺国际电影节短片银帆奖；1962年获第一届电影百花奖最佳美术片奖，法国第四届昂西国际动画电影节儿童片奖；1964年获法国第十七届戛纳国际电影节荣誉奖；1978年获南斯拉夫第三届萨格勒布国际动画电影节分组一等奖：1981年获巴黎蓬皮杜文化中心第四届国际儿童和青年节二等奖。

私が小さい頃近所にクレヨンハウスという絵本屋さんがあり入り浸ってましたが、グローブの泉さんのコラムで北京版クレヨンハウス的？な蒲蒲蘭（ププラン）絵本館について触れられていました。
ハマった絵本↓その１
モグのクリスマス：ドジ猫のクリスマスの1日。イギリスで40年くらい読み継がれているシリーズのうちの１つ。

繊細な絵、十代になっても真似しまくって心底ハマったのでこのシリーズは死ぬまで手放しません。ディズニーランド内の文具屋さん(ワールドバザールの四つ角のグランドエンポーリアムでしたっけ)に何故かこの絵本をモチーフにした文具が売っていて、即買占めましたｗ
