LOS ANGELES CBS has renewed three freshman dramas for the 2015 16 season: "NCIS: New Orleans," "Madam Secretary" and "Scorpion." Ryan Pickett Jersey
The move is an indication of CBS' faith in its current drama heavy schedule. CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler confirmed the pickups Monday as part of her presentation at the Television Critics Assn. press tour. All three shows hail from CBS TV Studios.
Tassler also announced a Sept. 8 premiere date for Stephen Colbert's debut as David Letterman's successor on "The Late Show." Letterman is set to sign off on May 20. Tassler said CBS would likely run repeats of its primetime series during the interim period.
"I have nine months to make a show, just like a baby.
Renewed are "Arrow," "The Flash," "Jane the Virgin," "Reign," "Supernatural," "The 100," "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals."
"Each of these series have helped define what the CW is today, a network that is home to smart, provocative, quality programming, targeting a savvy, adult audience," said CW prexy Mark Pedowitz. "By picking up these shows now, our executive producers can start planning next season's storylines, and rolling these shows out throughout next season guarantees the CW will have more proven original series for our fall, midseason and summer 2016 lineups."
