Message by the OIC Group in Geneva1 on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian
People
The OIC group in Geneva joins the international community in commemorating the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people. We reaffirm our solidarity and commitment towards the cause of the Palestinian people, who remain under occupation for over seven decades now.
The last two months have amplified the necessity and urgency for a just, lasting, and peaceful solution
to the Palestine question. For more than two months, the world has distressingly observed Israel’s brazen violations of international human rights law, and international humanitarian law.
The magnitude and scale of destruction, killings, and suffering in Occupied Gaza are unacceptable.
The fact that an overwhelming number of the civilians killed in targeted attacks are women and children,underscores that accountability for these grave crimes must follow.
The OIC Group underscores that Israel’s colonization, illegal settlements, annexation, and continued denial of the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination constitute flagrant violations of international law.
We call for an end to all systematic violations of the basic human rights of the Palestinian people,including arbitrary and extra-judicial killings, torture, collective punishment, and demolition of houses.
We condemn Israel's barbaric destruction of hospitals in the Gaza Strip, targeting schools sheltering innocent civilians, targeting UN workers, cutting off water supplies, hindering access to medical supplies, and blocking humanitarian aid from reaching the besieged people.
Echoing the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit of 11 November 2023, we call for immediate cessation of aggression, putting an end to the colonial occupation, lifting the siege on Gaza; and Providing access to the Commission of Inquiry and other independent observers to the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
The Ministerial Committee mandated by the Extraordinary Summit has stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the lifting of the blockade, the release the Palestinian detainees and hostages,
and a serious and just peace process based on the terms of reference of international legitimacy.
We also reaffirm our continued support for a genuine peace process to achieve peace based on the two-state solution in a way that meets all the legitimate aspirations and rights of the Palestinian people, especially their inalienable right to self-determination and embodying an independent, sovereign State along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East AI-Quds as its capital, in accordance with the relevant UN and OIC resolutions.
