興味深い？朝日新聞広報部の百田への反論抗議すべきは「朝日新聞は１００％、中国の肩を持つ」の部分では
Interesting. Shouldn’t Asahi Newspaper Public Relations Department Protest Hyakuta’s “Asahi Newspaper Would Side with China 100%” Assertion?
朝日新聞は昨年末、『徹底検証「森友・加計事件」―朝日新聞による戦後最大級の報道犯罪』で名誉を傷つけられたとして、著者で文芸評論家の小川榮太郎氏と、発行元の飛鳥新社を相手取り、謝罪広告の掲載と計５０００万円の損害賠償を求める訴訟を東京地裁に起こした。先日、小川氏らに裁判所から訴状が届いたようだ。
At the end of last year, Asahi Newspaper brought a suit in Tokyo District Court alleging harm to reputation from publication of the book “Thoroughly Verified: ‘Moritomo/Kake Scandals’ -- One of the Biggest Postwar Publishing Crimes by Asahi Newspaper” against its author Eitaro Ogawa and the publisher Asuka Shinsha seeking a published apology and 50 million yen in damages. Mr. Ogawa received a copy of the written complaint the other day.
欧米では、この手の裁判は「スラップ訴訟」として軽蔑される。ダチョウ倶楽部の定番ギャグ「訴えてやる！」のニュアンスと同様、棄損された名誉の回復というより、自分たちの活動に否定的な言論への威嚇を目的とした裁判と受け止められるからだ。
In Europe and the United States, these kinds of lawsuits are looked down upon as “SLAPP lawsuits” [Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation]. That is because, like in the famous gag by Dacho Club [a comedy group] “I’ll sue you!”, the purpose is not to restore damaged reputation but to intimidate the free expression of people opposed to their activities.
「言論の自由」に守られた大手新聞社による訴訟提起は、自己否定そのものであり、自殺行為にも等しいと思う。
Bringing of such a lawsuit by a major newspaper which has itself enjoyed the protection of “the right of free speech” is self-denial equivalent to a suicidal act in my opinion.
もし、私が朝日新聞の顧問弁護士であれば、このような恥ずべき裁判には加担したくないので、経営陣を必死で説得する。聞き入れられなければ顧問弁護士を辞任する。
If I were Asahi Newspaper’s attorney, I would not want to be involved in such a disgraceful lawsuit and would argue forcefully with the management. And if I could not persuade them not to file the lawsuit, I would resign as their attorney.
小川氏のフェイスブックによると、朝日新聞側は訴状で、《原告は上記両問題（森友・加計問題）について安倍晋三首相が関与したとは報じていない》と主張しているそうだ。
According to Ogawa’s Facebook entry, Asahi Newspaper states in the complaint that it has not asserted any involvement by Prime Minister Abe in the “Moritomo/Kake scandals.”
これが事実なら、印象操作で世論を誘導したことの自白にも等しい主張だと感じる。朝日新聞がまともな言論機関であれば、今やるべきは「森友・加計問題に安倍首相の関与なし」を１面トップで報じて、読者や世間の誤解を解くことなのではないか。朝日新聞の判断はいちいち間違っていると指摘したくなる。
If this assertion is true, then I think it is equivalent to admitting that the newspaper has engaged in malicious manipulation of public opinion. If Asahi Newspaper were a reputable publisher, then what it should do now is publish on the front page an article with the headline “No Involvement by Prime Minister Abe in ‘Moritomo/Kake Scandals’” to resolve the misunderstandings of its readers and the public. I feel compelled to point out that the judgment of Asahi Newspaper is wrong at every turn.
作家の百田尚樹氏は１３日にツイッターで、《これは首を賭けてもいい。もし、中国と日本が軍事衝突をすれば、朝日新聞は１００パーセント、中国の肩を持つ。朝日新聞は日本の敵だが、そんな売国新聞を支えている朝日の読者も日本の敵だ》とつぶやいた。表現は過激だが、百田氏の気持ちも理解できる。
On the 13th, author Naoki Hyakuta tweeted “I will bet my life on it. If China and Japan were to have a military confrontation, Asahi Newspaper would side with China 100%. Asahi Newspaper is an enemy of Japan, and the readers who support it are also enemies of Japan.” The wording is extreme, but I can understand Mr. Hyakuta’s feelings.
これに対し、朝日の広報部は１５日、《「朝日の読者も日本の敵だ」と作家の百田尚樹さんが発信していますが、特定の新聞の読者を敵視するような差別的な発言に強く抗議します。私たちはこれからも建設的で多様な言論を尊重し、読者とともにつくる新聞をめざします》とツイートした。
In response, the public relations department of Asahi Newspaper tweeted on the 15th that “Author Naoki Hyakuta says that ‘the readers of Asahi are enemies of Japan,’ but we strongly protest discriminatory statements demonizing the readers of a particular newspaper. We will continue to respect constructive and diverse speech and work toward a newspaper produced together with its readers.”
私は、日本の新聞社としては、百田氏のツイートの《朝日新聞は１００パーセント、中国の肩を持つ》という部分に断固抗議すべきだと思うが、同社はそこを指摘していない。左派に多い、「差別的発言への抗議」へと論点をズラしたことは興味深かった。
As a Japanese newspaper, I think that they should have strongly protested Hyakuta’s statement that “Asahi Newspaper would side with China 100%,” but they didn’t bring that up. It is interesting that instead they used the time-honored left-wing tactic of diverting attention by “protesting discriminatory speech.”
「日本の肩を持つ」とは社交辞令としても言えないということなのか。この驚くべき愚直さを、朝日新聞はなぜ紙面作りに活かさないのか、不思議である。
Is it impossible for them even to say as lip service that they “would support Japan?” It is curious that they cannot utilize this naive honesty in producing a [trustworthy] newspaper.
