Work in Canada

こんにちは！閲覧ありがとうございます。カナダにも冬がやってきました。時期的には秋ですが、もはや冬の気温をしております。ヒートテックとコートを着て生活しないと生きていけません。

Hello! How are you doing?? In Canada, winter came and we have a lot of rainy days. We need jackets and coats. I hear this winter will become colder than usual

Today, I'd like to write about my job. I've worked here since last May. It's like a barista. 

My program is CO-OP, so I can work in Canada. While I went to school, I could work less than 20hours per week. Once I finish my school, I can work 40hours a week!

CO-OPプログラムでは、就学中は週20時間、お休み（いわゆる長期休み）と就学後は週40時間働ける（私が通学していた時）ことになっています。ワーホリだとworking permit, 学生だとstudent visaとなりますが、CO-OPの人は両方持っています。

※どうやら規則が変わったようで、就学中も週40時間働けるみたいですね！

off-campus permissionを持っている学生の方が対象です。ビザの種類はきちんとエージェントや移民局でサイトを確認しましょう。最悪強制送還なんてことも。。

   

仕事の探し方, how to find a job

There are 3 ways to find a job.

1. Indeed(website)

2. Drop your resume

3. Introduce

ここで基本的なバイト探しに使える単語を紹介します。

①resume

レジュメです。いわゆる履歴書のこと。だいたいA41枚にまとめます。私は以下のサイトを使って作成していました。

②cover letter

アルバイトを探すうえではあまりいらない気がします。こちらはインターンシップやオフィスワークに応募するときにいる印象。

レジュメは簡潔な履歴書ですがこちらは志望動機や自己PRを書きます。

1. Indeed or website

日本と似ている、ほぼ同じ方法です。

You can apply on website. The most famous one is Indeed. You can search online and submit your resume. 

After you applyed a job, you sometimes need to take a test. The test is like an aptitude test. It's better to have a knowledge. 

応募→結果待ちの手順になります。ときどき、適性検査があるので受けましょう。

2. Drop your resume

This method is completely different from Japanese way. You can take your resume to the place where you wanna work, and pass it to the emploee. If you're lucky, you can have an interview right away. 

カナダ流ですね最初聞いたときはびっくりしました。直接お店に行って、レジュメを手渡し、帰ります。

このときにAre you hiring?と聞ききます。私はそうしました。中には、Hiringポスターを張っているお店もあります。そうしたらチャンス！行ってみましょう。

3. Introduce

日本でもないことはないかな？？

This means introbuced by your friend. Your friends introduce you to their stores. Connections are important in Canada.

You should tell your friend. Your friend will supprot you.

友人のコネです。カナダでは当たり前。カナダですコネクションをすごく大事にしている、築くのが好きな印象をうけます。すごいですよね。日本の就活とかで露見したら大問題になりそうですね。。。

In Canada, everything is super slow. It takes more than a week to recieve a message from the owner. You don't have to sweat it if you can't get a message. Also, when you're looking for a job, just send your resume to everywhere. 

とにかく時間がかかります。明日返事するよ、って言われても、１週間かかることも。大量に応募したほうがいいです。応募してから返事が来ない（不採用）、突然音信不通（不採用）というのも普通なので、あまり気にせず次々応募しましょう。

Just apply. Don't be shy. You can do it! とはいっても気にしてしまいますが。。
