「hold one's ground」は、「自分の立場を守る、譲らない」という意味の熟語です。元々は軍事用語で、兵士が自分の陣地を守り抜くことを指します。転じて、困難な状況や反対に直面しても自分の意見や立場を守り続けることを意味します。
覚え方のポイント
「ground（地面）」を「自分の立場」と考え、「hold（保つ）」ことで「その場にとどまり続ける」イメージを持つと良いでしょう。
