Native/Non-native英語を問わず、日常生活でもよく使われている少し気になる表現についてシェアしたいと思います。それは、There's no/It's no構文です。これらの構文を使ってかなり色々な表現が自由自在に作れますが、意外と前置詞の部分で『あれ？！』なんか聞いてて気になってしまうことがあります。意味は通るかもしれませんが、前置詞を間違えたことで違和感を感じることってありませんか？
それぞれの構文形式で６つ程の基本的パターンがあります。
There's no構文
1. There's no point in sticking around here anymore.
2. There's no question of having to be quiet in library.
3. There's no reason to complain about.
4. There's no hope of getting High Distinction marks for my last assignment.
5. There's no need to demonstrate how it's gonna work out.
6. There's no chance of finding a better solution to it.
It's no構文
1. It's no use sticking around here anymore.
2. It's no surprise that you have to be quiet in library.
3. It's no good complaining about.
4. It's no use getting High Distinction marks for my last assignment.
5. It's no coincidence that she demonstrates how it's gonna work out.
6. It's no longer necessary to find a better solution to it.
上記二つの構文パターンをご覧になって共通点ってわかりますか？
そうです、There's no構文には必ず前置詞が付きます。例えば、There's no point..と使う時に、よく in を忘れている、若しくは意外にこの in が必要なことを知らない方って意外に多い気がします。
It's no構文の方は、逆に一切前置詞は付きません。パターンとしては、動名詞（Gerund)になる場合と、that節になる場合ですよね。
結構これらの構文をゴッチャになり、不必要なのに前置詞を入れてみたり、違う前置詞を入れてみたり、動名詞に変えてみたり、that節にできないケースに無理やりしてみたり、ミスをよくしがちです。
ミス解決方法としては、やはり暗記するよりは、寧ろ色々会話や独り言に落とし込んで使って見ることが重要だと思います。The more you put these phrases in your daily conversation or self-talk, the more you get used to them and memorise them more naturally.
