Day 8 でClenrowanという町を跡にし、北東へ約180km先に位置するHolbrookという町までNon-stopでLet's hit the road!!
やはり道中はBush, bush, bush and bush scenaryでした。あとは牛がモーモー
Holbrookの市街に入った時には暑くて結構疲れました。宿探しの前に、お昼休憩といきましょう！やはりステーキだったと思います。この町はなかなか興味深いオブジェが多くて楽しかったです。戦時中に色々影響を受けた形跡があったり、とにかく戦争記念碑や潜水艦の模型が公園にポツンと設置されていたりと、日本ではなかなかないユニークな光景でした。
As you can see, this is a huge submarine!! We didn't read the details of this submarine, but it's really worth having a look at if you happen to be here.
これはなんだろう？！大砲か！？これもかなり巨大なオブジェでした。時代を感じました。
ほうほう、なるほど。ここは潜水艦博物館だったんですね。実は、中に入りたかったのですが、生憎年末の為休館でした。。。 なので、外に設置されているオブジェしか見れませんでした。でもそれで十分満足でした。博物館の中はもっと珍しいオブジェや情報が豊富だったんでしょう。いつかまた将来この町に遊びに行けたら是非訪れたいです。I've become enamoured with this kinda military and strategy stuff ever since I visited this town. So, I wanna definitely come back again here in near future. And, that is why I did research and earn a Master's degree in Strategic and Defence studies at uni. The fact is that I immensely enjoyed it and also forged a good connection with one of the premier policy thinktanks located in Sydney, in which I actually did a research intern.
Please have a look at this! OMG, so huge!! Even though we missed the opportunity to see the submarine museum inside due to the end of the year's closing time, we were genuinely stoked about these fantabulous displayed objects outside. Anyway, despite being persistently scorching weather, we almost forget about not just the hot temperature, but our age, physical fatigue and hungriness, instead we extraordinarily enjoyed here like a child.
This is the side angle. So beautiful structure!! Am I a bit insane? No no absolutely not. We are unequivocally sorta a fervent aspirant pertaining to military stuff like a pure kid. We are not a crazy nuclear and military engineer, nor are we keen to wage any war or military confrontations. LOL
いろんな形の潜水艦や大砲とかが記念として設置されてて、数時間ぐらい恰も子供に戻ったかの如く没頭していました（笑）
さてさて、そろそろ宿を探さなくては。町自体はそんなに大きくはなかったので、意外にすぐに見つかりました。少し午後から天気が下り坂の様子でしたが、雨は降らずでした。
なんかテレビ一つにしても時代を感じます（笑） 古い！！でもお部屋は広くて満足でした。いよいよ往復の旅も佳境を迎えてきました。 あとは残すは最後の町Gundagaiのみとなりました。
Day 9
早朝４時には起床し、軽く朝食、ストレッチ、自転車点検、準備完了！！Holbrookから最後の町Gundagaiに向けていざ！！距離としては東に約120kmぐらいです。道中は少し山とかが多くて少し険しい道とかも走りました。なだらかなものもあれば、かなり勾配のきついhill climbing的なsteepな坂も多く、途中で私は些か苦戦しましたが、友人はというと流石元エリート空挺団というだけあってまだまだ余裕がありそうでした。Hats ooooff to you mate!!
そうこうしている間に、目的地のGundagaiという町に到着！！洒落た郵便局を発見！
この郵便局の裏ロッジある隠れ家的なlocal cafe restaurantでブランチを取りました。案の定腹ぺこで写真は撮ってませんでした。何かを食べたかも覚えていませんが、確かボリュームがあって、美味しかったと思います。
腹ごしらいも終わったので、早速町の中をぶらぶらと散策開始！！何やら興味深いブリッジが！見た感じだと、蒸気機関車でも昔走っていたんだろうか。
It was a really stunning view. I guess it was the last remnants of a steam or diesel locamotive in those days, presumably until the complete discontinuance of the service in 1984. Not a long ago. 80 years history!!
宿探しをしなくては。この町も割と簡単に見つかり、早速チェックイン。
今回の自転車旅で泊まった宿の中で一番広かったかなと思います。値段は少し高かったですが、その分Amenitiesは充実していましたし、部屋からの景色も素晴らしかったような記憶があります。
外観はこんな感じでした。裏の禿山がなんとも言えない。
休憩後、少し急な坂を発見したので、試しに自転車で走ってみよう！
かなりタフでしたね。写真からではそこまで臨場感がわかないかもしれませんが、結構きつかったという記憶があります。Probably, it's a bit difficult to vidualise how steep this ascending hill should be from the above photo, but yes it was really steep!! Good challenge!
特にこれいって街中にHolbrookのようなオブジェもなかったので、このチャレンジ終了後は、街中のchurchでトイレに行き、宿でゆっくりしました。
夕方、宿の近くを散策し、夕食を食べた場所の近くで、可愛いワンちゃん！！
持って帰りたかったですね （笑）
夜は早く９時には就寝💤
Day 10
ついにCanberra - Melbourne往復の自転車旅も最終日がきました。最後の自転車点検も完了し、途中Yassを経由して、Canberraに怪我や事故も一切なく無事に戻って参りました。
Canberraという道路標識の看板が見えてきました。長いようで短い10日間の自転車旅も終わりです。でも家に着くまでが旅行ですので、しっかり気を緩めず最後まで事故がないように。アキレス腱が酷く痛かったので、最後の日は結構辛かったです。
Finally we completed our 10-day Canberra - Melbourne round bike trip!! The total distance was approximately 1,600km. Thanks mate. I will never forget this fantastic memory. Although I am getting older, I wanna do it again like this trip in near future.
