　ロザリンドはオーランドに、好き勝手なことをいう。
　「自分の落ち度を夫のせいにしない女に子供を育てさせちゃダメ、 だって子どもが馬鹿になるだけだもの」。
　

ROSALIND: By my life, she will do as I do.		ロザリンド：　命をけけてもいい、あの人はわたしと同じことをする。
ORLANDO： O, but she is wise.		オーランドー：　そうかなあ、でもあの人には分別がある。
ROSALIND： Or else she could not have the wit to do this: the wiser, the waywarder: make the doors upon a woman's wit and it will out at the casement; shut that and 'twill out at the key-hole; stop that, 'twill fly with the smoke out at the chimney.		ロザリンド：　なけりゃ、こういうことをする知恵もないのよ。分別があればあるほど、気まぐれやなんだから。 女の智慧を閉じ込めてドアを閉めてごらん、窓から飛び出す。窓を閉めれば、鍵穴から抜け出す。鍵穴を塞げば、煙に紛れて 煙突から昇っていく。
ORLANDO： A man that had a wife with such a wit, he might say 'Wit, whither wilt?'		オーランドー：　そんな知恵のある女を妻にした男はいうだろうな、「妻の智慧、どこでどうしているのやら？」と。
ROSALIND： Nay, you might keep that cheque for it till you met your wife's wit going to your neighbour's bed.		ロザリンド：そんな文句はいざというときまでとっておくことね、いずれ奥さんの智慧がお隣さんのベッドにもぐりこむだろうから。
ORLANDO： And what wit could wit have to excuse that?		オーランドー：　その言い訳に、智慧はそんな知恵を働かせるのかな？
ROSALIND： Marry, to say she came to seek you there. You shall never take her without her answer, unless you take her without her tongue. O, that woman that cannot make her fault her husband's occasion, let her never nurse her child herself, for she will breed it like a fool!		ロザリンド：　決まっているでしょ、あなたがもぐりこんでいると思って探しに来たっていう。女と一緒になれば口答えも 一緒についてくる。その女に舌が泣ければべつだけど。ああ、自分の落ち度を夫のせいにしない女に子供を育てさせちゃダメ、 だって子どもが馬鹿になるだけだもの。
