昨日は、弊社藤田のブログでも告知 があった「新規開発会議」の第１回目が開かれました。
現場からのサービスを立ち上げる意見を吸い上げる仕組みの一貫ですが、精鋭があつまったせいか、M.S.の事前の不安にも関わらず、将来を見据えた新サービスや、既存サービスの強化、視点が異なった提案など、様々なものが紹介され、好評を博していました。
エンジニア組織も、大規模になってサービスも増えてくると、そのままの運用では、小規模な会社が必ずアピールするような「風通しのよい」「フラットな」「若手の活躍する」が実施しづらくなります。 紙飛行機を１０倍の大きさで作っても、滑空できないのと同じで、組織にはその規模にあった運用ルールが必ず必要とされるわけで、エンジニアの採用を強化している現在、某社のような「大企業病」になってしまうのをさける意味でも、こういった仕組みを次々と導入していくことは大切ですね。
さて、本日のエントリも二本立て。過去の研究課題レポート抜粋とCAMP(CyberAgent Marketing Platform)担当アプリケーションエンジニアの遠山氏による記事です。
未踏ユースで採択されたこともある彼ですが、今回の内容は比較的初歩な「用語辞書の構築」です。ただ、辞書の内容は、彼の好みが反映されたファッション関係用語。就職時、彼がサイバーエージェントを選んだのは、プーペガールやクラウンジュエルといった、ファッション系のWebサイトがあることもポイントの一つだった模様です。
……いや...最近、特によく見かけるんですよね。ファッションやおしゃれに興味あるエンジニアとか、好きなものがサーフィンとXilinxとか、うちがイケメンしか採用していないと勘違いさせてしまうような、どっかの明るく爽やかなエンジニア とか。
昔、テクニカルライターの小田嶋 隆 さんが書いた『我が心はICにあらず』って本では(もう20年も前だ...)、大多数の(当時の)エンジニアが重度のオタク、インドア派であることを皮肉って、「趣味がテニスとアセンブラであるエンジニア」を笑い話としてたとえていましたが、最近は本当に、シャレにならなくなってきました...。
そんなわけでサイバーエージェントでは、今後「容姿に自信がなくて、秋月電子やギャラクシークエストが大好きなオタクエンジニア」の採用を、私の周辺でますます強化していきたいと思う今日このごろです。

As you may know from Fujita's blog entry, we held the conference 'Web service Development Meeting' yesterday. The purpose of this meeting is to get a hearing for our coworker's opinions. I felt uneasy about the quality of the conference. However, the participant offered us a lot of fresh ideas to grow our service. I think meeting or framework like this meeting is very important if you work for a big company. We can manage a few staffs smoothly without any rules. However, when it comes to a big company, it is difficult to get new business ideas from field staffs without any rules.
Well...we will post a two blog entries today. The first entry is about the summary of our past IT report. The second is about the way to make a fashion word dictionary written by Toyama-san.
A few yeas ago, his report was awarded by 'Mitou Youth', one famous IT conference. This report article is more simple than that report, but he would like to post this article because of his interests. He likes both fashion and IT technology. From veteran engineers viewpoint, it is difficult to understand his feeling. Typical first-rated engineers like to go over cutting-edge technologies and to make program codes in comparison with the indifference of the fashion and outdoor sports. We usually say all of them are inner-side people. I strongly strengten to hire more these engineers as well as normal engineers.
