We really liked the peas you gave us last time.
We’d be so happy to have such nice fresh vegetables again.
また食べたい、と思っていたくらいですから。
美味しいものは、
いくら続いてもいいものです。
さて、
絹さやは、足が速いから
すぐに食べなくちゃ。
As they go bad quickly, I got to cook it as soon as possible.
First let’s take off the strings.
早速筋取り。
Actually it is quite a painstaking task.
筋とりしながら ふと、
亡き母を思い出しました。
Doing so, I looked back my childhood when my mother showed me the way.
子供の頃 母とちゃぶ台に座って
筋取りの手伝いをしたなあ。
I remember I used to help her do the work, sitting at the low table in the kitchen.
Long time ago.
母は、料理が苦手な人だったけど、
筋取りとか、アク抜きとか
そういうことは、
きちんと教えてくれました。
She was, to be frank, not so good at cooking.
But she taught me quite a few useful tips for cooking, such as how to prepare vegetables.
あらためて、母に感謝。
Now I appreciate her thoughtfulness from the bottom of my heart.
で、ふと、思い当たりました。
Then a thought came upon me.
Does my daughter know about it?
こういうのは 筋取りするって…
うちの娘は、知ってるのかしら❓❓
娘は、一応、料理は、出来ます。
自分の弁当を作ったり
おかし作りもするけど
肝心なところがよくわかってない。
I mean, she does cook.
In fact she prepares her own lunches.
And does some baking too.
However, she sometimes surprises me in some way.
For example, she doesn’t know much about basic things like washing fruits or vegetables before cooking.
買ってきた野菜や果物を、洗わずに使ったことがあるくらい。
筋取り、やってみせたら…
やっぱりね、知らなかった。
I showed her how to do it, then she claimed that she hadn’t known that.
Oh well. That’s what I was worried.
しかも、慣れてないから
うまく筋が取れないようです。
Moreover she didn’t seem to be able to do that well, maybe because she isn’t used to it.
2、３個やってるうちに、、
今、忙しいから
また今度ね。
と、スルーされてしまった。
After trying a few, she gave up doing it, saying she is busy at the moment.
Oh no...
全くもう〜❗️
That’s all my fault that I did not teach her properly.
As a mother I regret not having taught her cooking earlier.
まあ、わたしがちゃんと教えてなかったのがいけないんだけどね〜。
反省する、母、でした。
