プリン作りました。
Hi there!
I made pudding.
It’s one of the usual sweets in our family.
プリンも、うちの定番おやつです。
There was some fresh cream left in the fridge,so I wanted to make use of it.
生クリームが余っていたので
使い切りたくて…
と思って見たら結構残っていたんだけど…
まあ、いいか、と。
思いっきり使いました。
Actually it was a lot more than I thought, but I just used all the rest.
Sure. It turned out to be very tasty.
Very rich and creamy.

そりゃ、まずいわけがない。
早速、旦那が、
また、作って、だって。
My husband likes it so much that he asks me to make it again.
これ、生クリーム たっぷりだから、
コレステロール やばいよ〜、
と注意したら、
Actually I warned him it’s full of fresh cream.
Shouldn’t you watch cholesterol?
たまには、いいじゃん。
と。
It won’t hurt if it’s only sometimes, right?
Says he.
たまには、がすごく多い気がする。
When he says “sometimes”, it means more than that, I suppose.
ところで、
つい最近、かなり、怖かった話。
By the way.
I had a very frightening experience recently.
志朗と、あさんぽ中のこと
I was taking a morning walk with 志朗 as usual, around the quiet residential area in my neighborhood.
It is a kind of area with small and narrow paths where there is not so much traffic.
It’s good for walking dogs in places like that.
住宅街の細い道
車があまり来ないから
ワン連れには良いんですよね。
まあ、見通しも悪いんだけど
車が来れば音でわかるし。
Actually it can sometimes be a little difficult to see things around.
But in case a car is coming close, you will hear it.
Also, they are usually very careful in driving a car.
ドライバーの方も、
すごく注意して
ゆるゆる運転してくれます。
ところが❗️
ちょっと見通しの悪い十字路で
自転車が飛び出してきたんです❗️
But then!
Guess what happened.
Suddenly, there came someone on a bike jumping out of the corner towards us.
At full speed!
それも、ものすごいスピードで。
We were almost hit by the bike.
危うくぶつかりそうになりました。
I cried out in fright.
私思わず、うわあー❗️って大声を上げてしまいました。
自転車に乗っていたのは、
多分 30代くらい❓ の女性…❓
こんな季節に、
マスクにキャップ、の重装備
眼鏡もかけてて
人相不明。
なんか、ちょっと、変な人っぽい。
Apparently it was a woman in her thirties.
She looked somehow weird, wearing a face mask, a cap, and sunglasses, so I couldn’t see her face clearly.
私、つい、
危なかったぁー…
と 呟きました。が、
I murmured
Gee, it was close...
向こうはダンマリ。
She remained silent, standing still.
謝るでもなく、固まったまんま。
もしかしたら、気まずくて
言葉が出てこなかったのかもしれないけどね。
Well, she was probably in such shock that she couldn’t find a word.
それにしたって
ダンマリは、失礼だなあ、と、思った。
However, isn’t it rude that she won’t apologize to me?
向こうが謝る気がなさそうなので
時間の無駄。
気を取り直して、志朗と歩き去りました。
I thought it waste of time waiting for her to say something.
So I just decided to forget it and walked away with 志朗.
She would probably start riding her bike again after we left.
At full speed, of course.
I’m not sure.
その人がどうしたかは、
わかりません。
多分 何もなかったように
また猛スピードで自転車こいで
どっか行っちゃったんでしょう…
しっかし、ねえ...
あんなスピードで
飛び出してきておいて、
一言もないなんて
つくづく、失礼な人だなあ、
とは思いました。
Now, looking back the incident, I realize how rude she was.
At least one should apologize in such a case, right?
ていうか、危ないよね❓❗️
Or, don’t you think it is dangerous to ride a bike in such a manner?
自転車は、車ほど危険視されてないけど
ぶつかった時の衝撃って
大変なものです。
Bikes are often thought light of, but they can cause serious damage to others.
しかも、自転車って、
車と違ってほとんどの場合、
逃げちゃうんだって。
What is worse, bike riders are more likely to run away in case of committing accidents, according to some reports.
知り合いのお嬢さんは、
自転車に当て逃げされて 、脚に障害が残ってしまったそうです。
One of my friends had her daughter hit by a bike and as a result she got her leg disabled.
Isn’t that terrible?
ひどい話です。
幸い 私達は、ぶつからずに済んだけど
もしなんかあったら、と想像したら
本当に怖くなりました。
Fortunately we didn’t get hurt then, but what would it be like if we had been actually hit by that bike?
I am horrified by the thought.
今、車の運転がとやかく言われてるけど
自転車に乗る人も
十分気をつけて マナーを守ってほしい
と、思いました。
Nowadays there is a lot of dispute over car accidents.
But what about bikes then?
I believe we should be more aware of bike accidents too.
PS 危なかった、を英語でいうと？
It was close です。
この場合のClose は、
近い、という意味です。
危険がすぐ近くに迫っていた、というイメージですね。
