Happy New Year to the World
Even though we were one of the latest people to welcome 2009, we all finally started 2009.
What is your goal for this year
There are many things I want to do during 2009.......
Like...... getting a scuba diving license...... Starting some triathlon...... Restarting the training for marathon......
Visiting new National Parks......
Well..... Basically enjoying 2009 the fullest
New Year's Day is huge event in Japan.
We eat Osechi Ryori, Japanese traditional New Year's Day meals, and go to pray in Shrine or temple. I am not a Buddhist.... but I still go to Temple to pray for the New Year-
I would like to be still a Japanese person even though I am here in US for 1/3 of my life already.....
So I prepared Osechi Ryori
Each items in Osechi Ryori has some meanings, like live long, have stable finance, safe pregnancy etc......
I love beautiful Japanese culture a lot
Maybe Matt is having hard time with Japanese culture..... but he is nice enough to join us for the celemony-
I ordered sushi..... I did not make them.....
My roommate brought some nice Sake, also, which is usually called Omiki. (Sacred Sake on New Year's Day) Well..... the same Sake could be normal Sake if it is not New Year's Day...... Same as red wine in the church, I guess..... You dink the same red wine in Napa not thinking about blood of Jesus or something, right
For Matt, I fried some croquette and Shrimp...... Easier to eat for him.... not too fishy........
And he uses chopstickes just fine
I can not use them very well though.......
Jan. 2nd is my roommate's birthday, so I baked little cake for her
Happy Birthday
We played Guitar Hero, the World Tour, together and watched some movies....
It was very nice New Year's Day for me-
I hope your day was nice also
