In Japan, everyone quickly prepares to welcome New Year 2009

Getting ready for New Year's Day right after Christmas creates very busy season in Japan.
I have to go buy Soba and Mochi for New Year's meals also!
I just went to some drug store near my house.......
And I saw the big after Christmas sale.....
But on just next aisle from the sale, there were already....... Valentine's Day gifts on the shelf
Wow.... I knew that New Year's Day is just another normal day in USA, (it seems like it compare to Japanese New Year's Day.....) but I did not think that stores would be ready already for Valentine's Day right after Christmas.......
I just had a little culture shock in US after 9 years.....
I wonder if it was like that all the time during my 9 years life in USA????? Maybe I was just ignorant until this year...... Wow......
