Fujitsu T730 convertible tablet

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Fujitsu Laptop Battery

Fujitsu is the traditional tablet PC manufacturer, is you ask me. They’re one of the oldest advocates of the tablet PC format and still today they’re pushing lots of models for business use. But that’s going to change as rumors point towards a launch of a 7 inch Android tablet for the mases. Until that happens let’s take a look at the recently annouced Fujitsu TH40/D a sliding tablet with a QWERTY keyboard that will take on a fight with the Asus EEE Pad Slider and the Samsung Sliding series 7.

From the looks of it I can see one advantage of this convertible slide-out tablet: it’s very slim considering the form factor. That’s attributed to the lack of a touchpad (I think I see an IBM touchpoint similar pointing stick in the pictures below) and the use of fewer keys with low key strokes at 1.4mm. Similar to the EEE Pad Slider, the screen pops out at 45 degrees and stays there thanks to a prop stand that doesn’t feel that secure with battery like Fujitsu Lifebook C2310 Battery , Fujitsu FPCBP85 Battery , Fujitsu LifeBook P7010 Battery , Fujitsu FPCBP86 Battery , Fujitsu FMVNBP118 Battery , Fujitsu FPCBP69 Battery , Fujitsu Lifebook P5020 Battery , Fujitsu Lifebook P5010 Battery , Fujitsu FPCBP49 Battery , Fujitsu Lifebook P1030 Battery , Fujitsu LifeBook P1630 Battery , Fujitsu FPCBP164Z Battery , as you can see in the video at the end of this post, but that was an earlier sample.

As you can see, everything is based around the newer Intel Atom Z6xx architecture that supports HD decoding with no need of an additional decoder chip. Too bad the TH40/D has only 1 GB RAM, which will prove insufficient for Windows 7 OS. Hope it can be upgraded to at least 2 GB. It’s not clear if the 120 GB storage unit is a SSD or a mechanical drive, but since retail price is rumored at around 900 bucks (in Japan) it might be a speedier drive. Hope we’ll get more info soon as this might be a interesting slate for those who want to work from time to time on their tablet.

Here’s a short hands on video with the Fujitsu TH40/D tablet that demos the sliding keyboard mechanism:

We’ve wrote about the Fujitsu Lifebook T730 convertible tablet a few weeks ago, when it surfaced on FCC’s website, but we didn’t knew too much about it then. It’s time now to take a deeper look at it, as it just surfaced on Fujitsu’s website. As expected we have a quite powerful tablet with Core i5-520M CPU, Windows 7 Professional and 12 inch touch screen with active digitizer. All looks nice compared to the HP TouchSmart TM2, which just got upgraded to Core iX platform.

All except price, which is almost double, at 1869$ for the base version that ships with only 2GB of RAM (that’s a killer on a modern laptop). Nonetheless, you’re getting a free Lexmark X2670 All-in-One Printer with it, which partially makes up for the high price.
