Optimism Takes Charge

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Hp laptop battery

The mood at last week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas was decidedly more upbeat than at the previous year's show. At that exhibition, the chatter on the floor was less about innovation and breakthrough technologies than about how to weather the economic storm that would impede the kind of discretionary spending much of the electronics industry relies on.

This year's show was a return to optimism. Tablet-size reading devices and three-dimensional television were two technologies often mentioned when exhibitors talked about future prosperity, but there were also developments in the comparatively mature industries of personal computing and cellphones.

Technology companies are looking for the perfect screen for reading devices. So far, they have not quite found it.

The gray-and-white E Ink displays on devices like the Kindle and Barnes & Noble's Nook do not have color and cannot show video. Computers can, but text is difficult to read in full sunlight on laptop displays, which also hog battery like Hp EV088AA battery , Hp HSTNN-LB31 battery , HP Pavilion dv2000 battery , HP Pavilion dv2700 battery , HP Pavilion dv6000 battery , HP Pavilion dv6300 battery , HP HSTNN-FB21 battery , HP RW556AA battery , HP EV087AA battery , HP EX942AA battery , HP Pavilion dv9000 battery , HP Pavilion dv9600 battery power and can strain the eyes when reading for long periods.

But what if there were one screen technology that did it all?

That is the promise of Pixel Qi, a two-year-old start-up spun out of the One Laptop per Child nonprofit project, which sought to give low-cost computers to children in the developing world. At a hotel during the show, Pixel Qi demonstrated its so-called dual-mode displays.

At first, the 10-inch screens resemble the typical backlit color display of a laptop. But touch a button and, presto, the screen becomes enters a more readable black-and-white mode that consumes considerably less power.

The company would not disclose which manufacturers were using its displays but said about a half-dozen were showing devices with Pixel Qi's screen behind the scenes at the show and preparing to sell them later this year.

"I can't think of a single significant manufacturer we have not been in contact with," said John Ryan, the company's chief operating officer.

Pixel Qi screens may not be suited for every device: They cannot match the rich, deep colors of regular LCD screens (used in televisions and devices like the iPhone), and pure black-and-white E Ink technology does considerably better in preserving battery power.

A Pixel Qi device can run about two days on a single charge, compared with a few hours for a regular laptop. An E Ink device like the Kindle, however, can go weeks without charging.
