Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Hp laptop battery
Although HP manages to fit an Ethernet port onto the Spectre XT without resorting to a USB dongle, its slim chassis isn't brimming with ports. There's only HDMI for video output, though it also supports Intel Wireless Display technology. It has two USB ports and an SD card reader. We did like that HP pairs an appropriately small and portable power adapter with this Ultrabook.
Besides having Beats Audio like in the other models in the Envy line, the Spectre XT claims to have four speakers, with two embedded in the front grille and two located under the sides of the laptop with battery like Hp Pavilion DV1000 battery (Hp dv1000 battery ), Hp 367759-001 battery , Hp PM579A battery , Hp Pavilion DV4000 battery (Hp dv4000 battery ) , Hp Pavilion ZE2000 battery (Hp ze2000 battery ), compaq Presario M2000 battery (compaq m2000 battery ). We weren't that impressed with the sound quality on the larger Envy 15, and the Spectre XT doesn't change this perception. Although the maximum volume can be very loud, it came with a certain amount of static. The speakers sounded quite hollow and there was a distinct lack of bass.
HP has generally kept its Envy laptops free of bloatware. At the same time, the company has bundled full versions of useful applications such as Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements. These programs, together with a free 2-year subsciption to Norton Internet Security, are useful additions on the Spectre XT. There's also a free year subscription to Absolute Data Protect, an anti-theft service.
In terms of the hardware specifications and the pricing, the HP Envy Spectre XT's closest rival would be the Acer Aspire S5, which has a similar Core i7 processor and a 256GB SSD. Besides an HDMI output, the Acer Ultrabook also has a Thunderbolt port that's rarely found on Windows laptops.
An unusual feature on the S5 is an SSD RAID configuration that gives it a slight performance edge over the Envy. While the S5 is slimmer than the Spectre XT, it also means that you'll need to use a USB dongle for the Ethernet connection.
Apple's MacBook Air is the other obvious contender in this premium ultraportable space. Compared with its Windows rivals here, the Air has a slightly inferior Core i5 processor and is more expensive. The screen, however, is better. Based on our experience, you are also likely to get the best battery life using the Air among the laptops here, due to software optimizations in Mac OS X.
Besides having the fastest Intel Core i7 chip that you'll find on an Ultrabook, our review sample comes with a 256GB SSD from Samsung. This model--Samsung's 830 series--is one of the better SSDs you can find now, and contributes to an impressive 5,489 score in PCMark7. While this is pretty good for an Ultrabook, we did get a better result with the Aspire S5 (6,019) due to its RAID setup.
In reality, you're unlikely to notice the difference between the two Ultrabooks--the S5 is marginally faster when booting up into Windows (11 seconds) compared with the 14 seconds recorded on the HP Envy Spectre XT. Applications launch promptly and both laptops are very responsiveness. However, for the price that it's asking, this HP laptop should have been equipped with more RAM--8GB would have been perfect for the preloaded Adobe applications.
While the general system performance on the Spectre XT is excellent, graphics isn't one of its strengths. This Ultrabook uses integrated graphics, which is only good enough for casual gaming.
With an uptime of 5 hours and 37 minutes, the HP Envy Spectre XT lasts slightly longer than the Envy 4. It's also much better than the Acer Aspire S5 which only managed around 4.5 hours. Overall, the Spectre XT isn't as good as HP's earlier Folio 13 Ultrabook, but few Ultrabooks are. After all, the bulkier Folio has a larger battery.
