1. ①Take pity on yourself, so long enslaved.

②Rejoice whom God hath joined have come together and need no longer look on sin apart.

③No two can look on sin together, for they could never see it in the same place and time.

④Sin is a strictly individual perception, seen in the other yet believed by each to be within himself.

perception [pərsépʃən] : 「知覚、認知、知見、見識、感じ方」

⑤And each one seems to make a different error, and one the other cannot understand.

⑥Brother, it is the same, made by the same, and forgiven for its maker in the same way.

⑦The holiness of your relationship forgives you and your brother, undoing the effects of what you both believed and saw.

⑧And with their going is the need for sin gone with them.

2. ①Who has need for sin?

② Only the lonely and alone, who see their brothers different from themselves.

different [dífərənt] : 「相違する、違っている、異なる」

③It is this difference, seen but not real, that makes the need for sin, not real but seen, seem justified.

justify [dʒʌ́stəfài] : 「弁明する、正当化する」

④And all this would be real if sin were so.

⑤For an unholy relationship is based on differences, where each one thinks the other has what he has not.

unholy : 「不信心な、不敬な、不道徳な」
base [béis] on : 「〜に基づく、〜に準拠する」

⑥They come together, each to complete himself and rob the other.

come together : 「一緒にやって来る、一緒になる、協力する、団結する、一体となる」

rob [rɑ́b] : 「〜から力ずくで奪う、〜の中身を盗む、〜から奪う」

⑦They stay until they think that there is nothing left to steal, and then move on.

leave [líːv] : 「〜を残す、置きっぱなしにする、置き忘れる」
steal [stíːl] : 「盗む、盗み取る」

⑧And so they wander through a world of strangers, unlike themselves, living with their bodies perhaps under a common roof that shelters neither; in the same room and yet a world apart.

3. ①A holy relationship starts from a different premise.

② Each one has looked within and seen no lack.

③Accepting his completion, he would extend it by joining with another, whole as himself.

④He sees no difference between these selves, for differences are only of the body.

⑤Therefore, he looks on nothing he would take.

⑥He denies not his own reality because it is the truth.

⑦Just under Heaven does he stand, but close enough not to return to earth.

⑧For this relationship has Heaven's holiness.

⑨How far from home can a relationship so like to Heaven be?

4. ①Think what a holy relationship can teach!

②Here is belief in differences undone.

teach [tíːtʃ] : 「〜を教える、指導する」
belief [bilíːf] : 「信じること、信念、信仰、信条、信頼」
undone [ʌndʌ́n] : 「undo の過去分詞形」
undo [ʌndú] : 「〜を元に戻す、元どおりにする、取り消す」

③Here is the faith in differences shifted to sameness.

⑤Reason now can lead you and your brother to the logical conclusion of your union.

conclusion [kənklúːʒən] : 「結論、決定、結末、結果、終わり、終局」

⑥It must extend, as you extended when you joined.

⑦ It must reach out beyond itself, as you reached out beyond the body, to let yourselves be joined.

reach out : 「手を伸ばす、差し出す、接触する、救いの手を差し伸べる」

⑧And now the sameness that you saw extends and finally removes all sense of differences, so that the sameness that lies beneath them all becomes apparent.

⑩For what is born into a holy relationship can never end.
