あわただしく過ごしているせいか、いい英文をゆっくりと味わいたい気分になりました。
音読でもいいのだけれど、もっと自分の中に注ぎ込むように。。。ということで、ここに書写！
何日かかけて、少しずつ。。。
The Magnificence of Humanity
Each human being is a link in a chain --- a chain that extends from the distant past into the future. Human greatness lies in not regarding one's existence pessimistically as merely a link in the chain. It's really strange. Consider, for example, how young people strive so vigorously to grow up. Each instant that boys and girls experience, they feel an inner fulfillment that is thiers alone, brand new and unconnected to anyone else either past or present. This is magnificent indeed.
It was in awe of that magnificence that I wrote. "To You Who Will Live in the 21st Century." I wrote it as a letter to each person who will form a next link in the chain. I wrote that this alone is unchangeable, transcending time and season. As I wrote it, I tole myself time and again that its message would --- or probably would --- apply not only to Japan but to children in African villages or the streets of New York.
