It's the Eiken test this weekend so good luck to our students who have entered. It's also the Yoshiwara Gion Festival in this neighbourhood on Saturday and Sunday. Many students are taking part and playing the taiko drums. Good luck to them, too. I hope to see you there.

そして土曜、日曜日はご近所の吉原商店街で吉原祇園祭
があります。
パイオニアの生徒もたくさん太鼓の演奏で参加するようです。こちらもがんばってくださいね。みなさんにお祭りで会えるといいですね
。
My wife and I like bakeries and there are dozens in Fuji City and nearby. One of our favourites is Smile Sunny Bee Bakery near Yonenomiya Park. I always buy the salt bread there. It's moreish! Anyway, I filled in a customer satisfaction questionnaire so I could get a free cream bun! I wrote in English and the woman at the counter looked at it, took a step back and seemed surprised by that. A little later that day I got an answerphone message from the Bakery. A man, in very good English, left a message thanking me for filling in the questionnaire and telling me about new menu items. I rang him back to thank him and, again, he spoke really good English. It's difficult to use polite language and talk over the phone in another language; I know when from trying to do that in Japanese. I was really impressed by his English and the level of service. So I thought I'd use my blog this week to recommend the Smile Sunny Bee Bakery, near Yonenomiya Park in Fuji City. You never know when learning another language might come in useful!

私と妻は、富士市にあるベーカリー
が大好きです。私のお気に入りの一つは、「スマイルサニービーベーカリーで、米の宮公園の近くにあります。私はいつも、ソルトブレッドを買います。もっともっと食べたくなるパンです。
それはともかく、アンケートに答えてクリームパンがもらえました
。
私はアンケートを英語で書いたのですが、レジにいた女性はそれをみてびっくりしている様子でした。数日後、そのベーカリーから留守電
にメッセージが男性の声で入っていました。
アンケートに答えたお礼と、新しいメニューの紹介で、とてもすばらしい英語でした
。私は、電話を折り返し、お礼をいいました。ここでもまた彼の英語はすばらしかったです。
母国語ではない言葉で、しかも電話で敬語で話すというのは難しいことです。私も同じです。日本語では難しいです。ですから、彼のその英語とサービスの高さにびっくりしたのです。
ということで、私もお礼をかねて、このブログで「スマイルサニービーベーカリー」（米の宮公園近く）の宣伝をしてみました
。
