Hello everyone,
How are you? Did you enjoy Golden Week? My parents came to Japan during Golden Week. I showed them all around Fuji City and parts of Shizuoka. Then we went up to Nagano to my wife's hometown of Omachi and they met my wife's family for the first time. It was very nice to show my parents some of my favourite places and also to visit some new places. In Shizuoka, we visited Lake Tanuki and the Izu peninsula. My mother loved the Japanese shops. She bought souvenirs until she reached the weight limit of her suitcase.

。みなさんはよいゴールデンウィークを過ごしましたか
。
ゴールデンウィークの間、私の両親が来日
しました。富士市や、静岡市を案内しました。
そして、妻の故郷である長野県大町に行き、初めて、私の両親は妻の家族に会いました。
私の両親に、私の好きな場所を案内できることをとても嬉しく思いました。
静岡では、田貫湖や伊豆半島を案内しました
。
私の母は、日本でのショッピングをとても気に入っていました
。
母は、スーツケースに詰めるだけのお土産を買っていました
。
In Nagano we visited the Kurobe Dam, the temples in the forests in Togakushi and some old postal towns in the Kiso Valley. My parents had a nice time trying new foods. The ate things like hand rolled sushi, 手巻き寿司, Kurobe Dam curry (it's shape is the same as the Kurobe Dam), tempura soba, Fujinomiya yakisoba and Napolitan sandwiches. My wife and I had to translate a lot because my parents can't speak Japanese and my wife's family can't speak English. It was quite difficult sometimes, especially when there were two or more conversations happening at the same time. Still, it's good practice for my Japanese and I'm glad our two families could meet and spend time together.

私の両親は、日本で初めて味わう食べ物が気にいっていました。手巻き寿司、富士宮やきそば、黒部ダムカレー、天ぷらそば、富士ナポリタンなどなど・・・
私の両親は日本語が話せず、私の妻の家族は英語が話せないので、私と妻は通訳に忙しくしていました
。同時にいくつかの会話が発生するとと、通訳するのは難しいです。
それでも、私はよい日本語の練習になりました。2家族のが一緒の時間を過ごせて、とてもいい時間でした

My father really likes nature and loved the mountain views in both Omachi and Fuji. Which do you think has the better mountain view?
私の父は、日本の自然と、大町や富士から見える山の景色がすきです。
皆さんは、どちらの景色がいいと思いますか。
We've been back at work a few days now and the speeches have started to come in. It's always a busy time for me. There are about 100 students doing the speech homework. I'm trying to get a head start in the translating. Anyway, have a good week.
