Hi!!!!
I’m using Ameba blog!!

Hello hello! How do you feel today?

I’m expectant because I’m gonna go to USJ tomorrow!!!爆笑

Today’s topic is serious.

Do you know “Agbogbloshie”?

Probably it’s the first time for almost everyone to hear this word.

Agbogbloshie is a former wetland and suburb of Accra, Ghana known as a destination for locally generated used electronics from the city of Accra.

It has been alleged to be at the center of a legal and illegal exportation network for the environmental damping of electronic waste (e-waste) from industrialized nations.

Agbogbloshie is called as a “digital dumping ground.”

This is not a good place to live.

However, so many people live and work there including kids.

Some of the children come from local area to make money with scavenging for copper wiring that they can sell to traders.

They go to school weekdays and come to Agbogbloshie after school.

On weekends, they spend all day in the dumpsite.

They make money each day, and each month they send money back to their family in local.

They would like to go back home, but their family need the money, so they stay.

Working in the dumpsite is hazardous to children.

It affects the nervous system especially the brain. These are kids. Their bodies are very vulnerable.

The health risks are obvious-but the money is too good to ignore.

Also, many don’t know the dangers of what they are doing.

They get a lot of health problems there, but they manage, because they need the money.

They get too many problems there-sometimes they have to go to the hospital. It’s not good for them.

We need to solve the problem right away and stop sending the waste.

However, this problem is not easy to solve.

Because Agbogbloshie is a business center, and they are using the money they make there to help their families to have a better life.

In short, to stop sending the waste means taking away their jobs.

Indeed, some of the children don’t want the people in Europe and all those places to stop sending the waste.

Obviously, it is essential to work out this problem but it is difficult to end up happily for everyone.
