One of the chestnut trees is a type called "Porotan".
It means the nut is easy to peel. We had 6 chestnuts in the second year, but none in the third year as we replanted it. This is the fourth year and I can see 6 chestnuts growing.
We have two different kinds of chestnut trees because the store said they would cross pollinate and make chestnuts. I'm not clear on the details but these trees have no chestnuts this year.
We have another chestnut tree that came with the land. Those chestnuts are small and not easy to eat so we just leave them on the ground. It looks like that tree won't have a lot of chestnuts this year.
