鍵は新分野の開拓

In
the late 1940s, Japanese society was slowly
changing.
In 1946, Japanese women had been
allowed
to vote for the first time and a few
women
had become politicians in Japan’s
parliament.
There were still very few Japanese
businesswomen,
but if women could become
politicians,
why couldn’t they also become
successful
in other areas?
Hanae
decided to try business.
She
had always been interested in clothes,
she
loved art and she was married to a man
who
owned a cloth factory. So the clothes
business
was the obvious choice for her.
Over
the next two years, she learnt about
designing
clothes, cutting cloth, selling
clothes
and running a business. By 1951,
she
felt that she was ready to make and
sell
her own clothes.

１９４０年代の後半に入ると、日本の社会は
ゆっくりと変わって行った。１９４６年に
日本女性達に始めての参政権が与えられた。
しかも数人の女性が日本の国会での政治家に
なった。女性の商売人は未だ少なかったが、
しかし、女性が政治家になれたのだから、
どうして、女性達が他の分野に於いても
成功しないはずはないでしょう。
英恵は商売をやってみようと決めた。
彼女はそれまでずっと着物に興味を持って
いました。彼女は美術が好きでした。
そして、彼女は織物工場を所有している
男性と結婚していた。ですから、着物の
商売が彼女の当然選ぶ分野でした。
その後の２年以上に亘り、彼女は着物の
デザイン、布の裁断、着物の販売、そして
商売を経営する事を勉強した。１９５１年
までには、彼女は自分自身の洋服を作って
販売する事に準備が完了していると感じて
いました。

若さとは何でしょうか？
昔の事を思い出して下さい。
未知のものに対して挑戦する心ですね。
誰しも何か思い当たる事が有るでしょう。
難しさや怖さをものともせずにアタック
した想い出が有るでしょう。
あの頃は素晴らしかった日々の連続でした。
それは男も女も同じでしょう。
それを良く表している歌が有りますね。
