Hi! My name is Geb Monteza.

Thank you for coming down this blog to know a little about the city in the Philippines where I'm from.

I'm from a place called Makati City. Makati City is considered as the most upscale
in the Metro Manila Area. While it is an odd place to go on vacation in a country made up of 7,100 islands, there are still some reasons Makati is a good choice for visitors. Makati City is one of the most pleasant and convenient places to visit in the Philippines.

As an island country with so many islands and a population speaking in 86 different dialects, most Filipinos are bilingual. English is the language of business and education, meaning most people are fluent. This is especially the case in Makati City. Makati is a more affluent city, with many of its residents engaged in international business and highly educated. Getting around in Mataki City solely using English is never a problem, although any attempts at Tagalog, the official language of the Philippines, will be appreciated.

For a lot of Filipinos and even foreign nationals, Makati City is the place to be. Headquarters of most of the major companies in the Philippines are located here.
In this city also lie modern commercial centers, schools and universities, residential villages, sports clubs and entertainment venues. Spanish era structures like office buildings and churches are also still around as stately reminders of Philippines' colonial past.
As Asia's only predominantly Catholic country, these venues though are seen as symbols of legacy and faith, not reminders of colonialism.

Makati City is pedestrian friendly. Getting around the central area of Makati, where all the businesses and malls are located, is easily accomplished on foot. Some roads have flyovers, or footbridges, which cross above especially, busy streets. On especially hot days which goes over 40'c in summer, taxis and buses run in a seemingly continuous stream down the central district's roads.

Though prices tend to be higher here than elsewhere in the Philippines, great deals can still be found. Visitors on a budget will be happy with the modern, reasonably priced accommodations and cheaper goods. A lot of the things you can buy here are still way much cheaper compared to Tokyo, and still with considerably plush surroundings.
