■[場面]待合室　連れ立って入室してくるダグとマークにカニーシャの親が問いかける。

父親: 先生、どうしました?

マーク: 心配ないですよ。

父親: (ほっとした様子で)ああっ、よかった。

先生、ありがとう。ありがとう、会っていいんですね。
Thank you, Jesus!
Thank you, doctor. Thank you.
I'd like to see her now.

ダグ: 小児科のロスです。
お嬢さんはうっ血性心不全じゃないですね。
Sir, your daughter wasn't suffering from congestive heart failure.

父親: 違う?
She wasn't?

ダグ: こちらは児童家庭局のマクギリスさんで、

聞きたいことがあるそうですよ。
This is Ms. McGillis from Child and Family Services.

She'd like to ask you some questions.

マクギリス: 名前と住所をどうぞ。

父親: いったいどういうことなんですか?

父親: カニーシャはどこだ。早く娘に会わせてくれ。
Where's Kanesha?

ダグ: あなたの五歳のお嬢さんは飲みすぎたんですよ、コカインをね。
Your five-year-old daughter overdosed on cocaine,

Mr. Freeman.

釈然としない様子のダグとマークの前で、

父親の視線が宙を泳ぐ。
