ハクチョウは、蝶を意味することもある "Hakucho"means Butterfly?

この花の日本語名は"ハクチョウ-ソウ"となっています。
This floral Japanese name is "Hakucho-grass".

日本語で「ハクチョウ」と発音すると、
When I pronounce with "Hakucho" in Japanese,

白鳥（スワン）を思い出します。でも、
I will think of swan. But,

この花の名前の「ハクチョウ」は
"Hakucho" in the name of this flower,

「白い蝶」を意味しています。
It means "white butterfly".

白い蝶々と言えば、
When saying a "White"butterfly,

「モンシロチョウ (MonShiro-cho)」が一般的です。
"Cabbage Butterfly" is general.

花が蝶に似ているのに、
Though flower is similar to a butterfly,

鳥をイメージさせてしまう「ハクチョウ」は、適切ではありません
"Hakucho" which makes imagine a bird, isn't appropriate.

この植物は「シロチョウ(Shiro-cho)ソウ」と名付けるべきだと思うのですが…
I think, this plant should be called "White Butterfly-grass"....

白鷺（しらさぎ）は、鳥の名前ではなくて、
"Shirasagi" wasn't the name of the bird, but

サギのなかで、ほぼ全身が白い鳥の総称なのだそうです
"Shirasagi" is whole name of Ardeidae that the body is white.

次の鳥が「白鷺」と言えます
The following birds can say, it is "Shirasagi".
・ダイサギ- Great Egret
・チュウサギ- Intermediate Egret
・コサギ- Little Egret
・カラシラサギ- Chinese Egret


この鳥は多分ダイサギです
I think this bird is a Great Egret.

大きさはアオサギとほぼ同じです。
Body size is almost the same as a Herons.

やっていることもアオサギと同じです。
Action is also almost the same as Herons too.

サギの首は、蛇と同じように動きます。
A neck of Herons moves like a snake.

私はこの花をテッポウユリだと教わってきました
I have learned that this flower is an "Easter lily".

しかし、そうではありませんでした
But the flower wasn't an Easter lily.

花はユリなのに、
Though a flower is a lily,

葉の形がユリらしくありません。
the shape of the leaf doesn't seem to be a lily.

むしろ針葉樹のマキに似ています。
The leaf is similar to Maki of a coniferous tree.

どうも台湾原産のタカサゴユリ（高砂百合）のようです
It seems to be a "Formosa lily" of Taiwanese origin.


●私は誤解していたその２　I misunderstood 2

「う～ん、うちのバアさんは何でこんな所にユリを植えるのだろうか？」
"Why, does grandmother of my family, plant a lily at such a plece?"

そのユリは花壇の石と石の間に生えているのです。
The lily grows between the stone of a flower bed.

燐の家のユリは、
At the next house,

さらに信じられない所に生えています
it grows at the place which isn't believed more.

園芸的にはＤ難度といってよい場所です
It's the place that called "D difficulty level" in gardening.

しかし、これらのユリは、植えられたものではありませんでした
But these lilies were not planted.

そこに生えてきたのが除草されなかっただけだったのです。
These lilies growing there were not weeded.

タカサゴユリは狩猟民族であると言えます。
Formosa lily is a hunting people.

台湾の人々は多額の寄付金を日本に贈りました。
Taiwanese people sent a great deal of contribution to Japan.

そんなことを知らない人も、
Even the person who doesn't know such thing,

この 台湾原産のユリを生えるがままにしています
is bringing up a lily of a Taiwanese origin.


●「侵入生物データベース」に次の説明がありました。
There was next description in "Invasive species database".

「近年各地で繁茂しているが、
"This plant is lush at all placet, in recent years, but,

花がきれいなためなかなか駆除されない」
it isn't exterminated easily, because a flower is beautiful."

タカサゴユリは今後もずっと駆除されないと思います。
I think Formosa lily won't be also exterminated from now on.
