There are no concepts of "Male"or"Female" in ferns・・・
子孫を残しとるのは男ゼンマイだべ
It is a Male-zennmai who is doing the job of releasing descendants
女ゼンマイを全部取ったら、
When we took all the Female-zennmai,
子孫でなくて、その株の方が枯れちまうンだ
Descendants will not disappear, but the body will die
あや、おめえは、たった10才の女子わらしだども、

前回までの男ゼンマイの写真をみるだ。ざらざらしとる

普通の葉っぱじゃァねえ。
It isn't an ordinary leaf
むつかしい言葉だが「胞子嚢ほうしのう」というのがいっぱい付いとるだ
(Next is a difficult word) The sporangium is full
胞子嚢にはゼンマイの赤ちゃんになる「胞子ほうし」ってのが入っとるだべ
The sporangium contains spores that will become zennmai baby
胞子をばらまいているのが男ゼンマイだ
It is the Male-zennmai that spreads the spores
だがら、男ゼンマイの本質は、人間で言えば女だべ
So, the essence of Male-zennmai is a Woman
一方、女ゼンマイは葉っぱさおっ広げで、
On the other hand, the Female-zennmai is spread in leaves,
お天ど様の光を受げで光合成をやっとるだ
and receives the light from the sun and it gets on photosynthesis
しっかり働いで、株に栄養を送っとるべ
Work well and nourish the body
東京サ出稼ぎに行っとる父ちゃんと同じだ
Same as your father who is going to work in Tokyo
だがら、女ゼンマイは、人間で言えば男の役目を果たしとるだべ
Therefore, the Female-zennmai fulfills the role of a Male in terms of humans
昔のもんは、見てくれだけで男とか女とか決めとったんじゃ
Old time peoples decided to male or female by appearance only
だがら、この世の中がややこしくなったんだべ
So, the world got confused
今、ここに、ゼンマイが出とるっちゅうことは、
Right now, the zennmai is growing here,
胞子がいい場所に着地できたちゅうことだ
ｔhat means spores have landed in good places
だがら、その株は絶対に枯らしちゃいげねえべ
So, you must never kill zennmai body
だがら、女ゼンマイは必ず２本以上残すだ
However, the Female-zennmai is sure to leave two or more
ゼンマイの株を守ると、山の女神が微笑んでくれるだべ
If you protect the zennmai, the goddess of the mountain smiles
