地域独特の様々なユニークで美しいデザインのマンホールの蓋が日本中にありますね。今日足元をみてふと思いました。
マンホールっていうと思い出すのは、「忍者タートル」
マンホールに住んでいる亀の忍者たちが悪をやっつけるコミック。
一見気持ち悪いけれど、だんだんかわいく見えてくるから不思議。このフィギュアを子供たちは、ミケランジェロ、ドナテロと、夢中に集めていました。ハロウイーンのコスチュームももちろん忍者タートル・・・・
ということで話はそれてしまいましたが、日本のマンホールの蓋は美しいと写真を集めるコレクターが日本はもとより、世界中にいるそうです。海外の日本のマンホールの蓋紹介記事から。

If you think there's a problem with telling a group of Japanese people that they have really pretty manholes, then you're ignorant and we don't want to talk to you. Japan has some of the beautifully decorated manhole covers we've ever seen, but you'd be likely to miss them if you didn't bend over and take a better look.
