先月、フィリピン中部を襲った台風では
沿岸部を中心に猛烈な風や高潮による被害が出て
これまでに5,786人の死亡が確認され
1,779人が行方不明になっています。
12月6日、東京・文京区の東洋大学では
募金などの支援活動を行っている大学生のサークルや団体が
壊滅的な被害を受けたレイテ島で活動している人たちに
テレビ電話で今の状況を聞く催しを開き
およそ170人が参加しました。
主催したサークルや団体は
来年は被災地を訪れるなど
数年にわたって支援活動を続けることにしています。

被災地のレイテ州タクロバン市内45カ所の飲料水施設を検査した結果
29カ所から大腸菌が検出された。
厚生省は、給水所などに殺菌用の塩素を配布する一方
水を飲む場合は20分以上煮沸するよう警告した。
