フィリピンのアキノ大統領のベトナム訪問に同行したスピーチライターが
「ツイッター」でベトナムについて
「配慮に欠けた冗談」をつぶやいていたことがわかり
物議をかもしているという。
報道によると、先週アキノ大統領が第１７回アセアン首脳会議に出席する為
アセアン議長国ベトナムの首都ハノイ市を訪れたが
同行したスピーチ・ライターの秘書官補佐が
「ツイッター」で
「ベトナム政府主催のディナーで出されたワインはまずい」
「ベトナムにハンサムな男性はいない」
「スピード出しすぎのオートバイでごった返しているハノイの道路
道をわたればすぐに死ぬことができる」など
訪問先のベトナムを誹謗するような冗談をつぶやいている事が判明したという。
この秘書官補佐は問題のつぶやきについて謝罪し
ツイッターアカウントも削除したらしい。
今回の騒動を受け、フィリピン政府は、ソーシャルメディアの使用に関する
厳しいガイドラインを設けると発表した。
方針が決まるまでの間、広報関連職員らのツイッターの使用を禁止するとしている。

日本軍によるゲリラ掃討を名目とする住民虐殺が全土で多発したが
その中でも、マニラ南方のラグナ州とバタンガス州で引き起こされた
虐殺事件は大規模なものであった。
１９４５年２月初め、米軍がこの地域に進攻して来た時に始まり
日本軍の兵団が敗北して撤退するまでの１カ月半続いた。
この中でも、最大の被害があったのはリパ市であった。
３月４日に、リパ市ルンバンで起こった虐殺事件は特に大規模で
約１５００人の住民が殺害され、村は抹殺されたという。
万聖節の１日、フィリピン各地の公共墓地では
花束やロウソクを手にした墓参りの家族連れでにぎわった。
しかし、ルソン地方バタンガス州リパ市のバナナ畑にある古井戸の跡地では
地元に住む男性が、65年前に日本軍に殺された父親のため
に静かに冥福を祈っていた。
私の妻のおじいさんも、この日本軍の大虐殺で、殺されたという
初めて妻の実家に行ったときに聞かされ
同じ日本人として、「ほんとうに、申し訳ない」という気持ちでいっぱいになったことを
今でも、忘れることは出来ません。

フィリピン国家捜査局は
１日、1986年に発生した三井物産マニラ支店長誘拐事件などに関与したとして
指名手配されていた誘拐組織メンバーのロランド・ファハルド容疑者（41）を逮捕した。
容疑者は2002年から海外に潜伏していたが
この日、マニラ空港に到着時に拘束されたという。
この事件では、1991年に実行犯グループの共産ゲリラ幹部ら５人が逮捕され
２人が終身刑判決を受けている。

1986年11月15日午後3時ごろ
当時の三井物産マニラ支店長であった若王子信行が
マニラ郊外のゴルフ場からの帰りに
フィリピン共産党の軍事組織、新人民軍（NPA）のメンバー5人に誘拐された。
その後事件が公になると
当時の日本では各種マスコミの報道を通じセンセーショナルな話題となる。
その後の1987年1月16日に
三井物産本社や通信社各社に右手中指、脅迫状や写真、テープが届いた。
写真は、誘拐された支店長が虐待を受けているように見え
テープには弱々しい声が吹き込まれていた。
この写真はその後すぐにマスコミによって報道され
若王子の解放を求める世論が沸騰することになる。
その後、数回脅迫状が届き
フィリピン政府やカトリック教会などが交渉に動いたと報道された後
1987年3月31日の夜にケソン市内の教会脇で解放された。
解放された被害者に怪我はなく、写真やテープは犯人の偽装であることが解った。
このことから、この事件は政治的な背景はなく、身代金目的の誘拐事件と見られている。
